I am a white westerner, not an Asian. I could easily see how Indonesia would be better for a Malaysian or other Asian than Thailand or the PI. Especially for a Malaysian who already speaks their language fluently. Thailand and PI cater to westerners much more.

Speak a fair bit of Tagalog but dont speak any Bahasa.. and definately hasnt been a problem for me. I think its finding the right ones and playing the game for all its worth.

Jakarta is one of the most fun cities I know. .and Indonesians some of most passionate people around. I find my " friends" from internet.

I agree Smoothy. Although I must admit as an Asian I lose out to a white westerner in several parts of Jakarta like Blok M and the Clubs! The english speaking girls have a preferance for white westerner over Asian in the hope of them marrying them and taking them away from thier so called dreaded life in Jakarta!

I'm a white guy, like smoothy, and like KL guy, I have experience in all three countries. I speak pretty good Indonesian, and have a really wonderful time here. The philippines is also quite enjoyable, because the girls there speak good english. But I think thailand would be as much fun as Jakarta, if only I spoke Thai!

True that US Americans or British haven't really focused on it, but Indonesia has been on the "sex tourist map" for quite a few years now.

Jakarta isn't a secret destination by any means. It's almost a mass prostitution mecca already.

I've been away from Jakarta for quite a long time now, but I'll be back next week for a couple of months.

I've RTFF periodically and I would really thank you all, who have contributed to keep me (and anybody else of course) updated, and knowing most of the places discussed in the different reports makes me have quite a good picture of what is going on actually.

Despite this, allow me just one question: Did the situation in matter of "operation Bunga" (police raids I read about of last December) calm down a little bit or will I (or all of us) still have to be very careful while dedicate ourselvers to our most preferred spare time occupation?

As Brandon mentioned, I would re-emphasize that this is a "straight-up" massage service. I would not suggest that anyone either expect nor solicit for extras. If that is what you are looking for, then there are many other such "happy ending" knock shop-type places mentioned on the forum.

The rate for a 45 min session was 110k, the same for both the Deluxe or Superior rooms, with a minimum booking for 2 sessions. In addition, there was a entrance charge of 100k. Thus, the total came to 320k for 90 mins.

The masseuse was skilled and spent a lot of time caressing my groin with obvious results. As I had suspected, she asked for a 'large' tip to complete the job and bargaining ensued with her quoting 500k. I couldn't bring her down to 100k tip that MS says gets him the service and, obviously, I was hardly in a position to bargain since my little man was too far gone. Thanks for your report and your update on the prices. I haven't gone to Fortune Spa since late 2007, apparently inflation has caused the house fee to go up from 280,000 rupiah to 320,000 rupiah.

The expectation for a tip has also gone up, I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise. In 2004, any girl at an MP would have been ecstatic to receive a tip of 50,000 rupiah but that's ancient history now. Considering the recent large increase in the cost of living for the average Indonesian, one can't blame the girls for trying to get as much as they can as a tip.

If it's any consolation, if you're a foreigner with U.S. dollars, thanks to the deteriorating exchange rate for the Indonesian rupiah, the 520,000 rupiah that you just paid is approx. the same US$ amount as the 380,000 rupiah I paid in 2007.
