Up Charges- Should You Have to Pay Extra For Anchovies on A Cesar Salad
Baring a successful uprising by the FARC, this is the direction that things are trending in Medellin. Still anticipating an official two tier pricing system for locals and gringos at some point in the future. There are already examples of this in some other things around the city.
So in the Casa in question there was a sign stating that there was a requirement to either buy a drink or pay a viewing fee of 3 K. So this than only applied to foreigners and not locals? I am only aware of a two tier system of pricing that exists for entering some of the National Parks in Colombia, specifically Parque Tyrona. However, I have yet to encounter any businesses in Medellin that have a two tier system. Which ones are you aware of so members can avoid them if they want to. I hate the idea of being charged extra because I am not a local but unfortunately there are Colombians who will try to squeeze as much as they can out of the gringos.
A perfect example of this are all the Chicas we chase after!
Or she just doesn't want to do it
The signs on the wall clearly state there is a 3 k viewing fee if you don't take a girl. You could have bought a beer instead and hung out to see if another girl was worth trying. It's a reasonable fee. Do you realize how many times a day the girls lineup and parade past guys who aren't going to pick?
You asked for something extra. The girl gave you a price. You could have asked for another lineup and chose another. Of course, she probably would ask the same amount for an extra service. That's reality in the casas. So many gringos insist on BBBJ the girls started charging for it. Apparently so many are willing to pay for it the price is 50 k.
Or she just doesn't want to do it. Hey, maybe her mouth hurts that day. Yea viewing fee is pretty standard in Medellin. Viewing fees are mentioned all over the forum.
Trip Report for Sept 2, 2019
Monday September 2, 2019.
After spending 12 days here so far, I can say this, even renting a hotel room near Centro for a month and current spending rates, I would not have a live in girlfriend if I resided in Medellin. It is so much cheaper to see about yourself in this country, it just is and there is no way around that. I must agree with JJBee62.
If you take the time to learn the city, you can find reasonable, unfurnished apartments for 700-1,000 k. Under $300 per month. I was in a spacious 3 bed, 3.5 bath place for 1. 6 million, in an excellent neighborhood. Utilities run about 90 k. Another 180 k for cable and internet. If you get away from the tourist areas, average meal price is about 9 k. If you cook you can cut that to about 4 k per meal. That puts basic living expenses about 2.2 million, eating 3 x daily in restaurants. $640. Of course there's initial costs of furnishing the apartment, but still reasonable.
Its extremely cheap to care for yourself. I have been her 12 days and barely spent $225 usd. If I was not dating chics daily, then I would be under spending the $225 usd that I have spent. You could easily live here for under a $1000 usd dollars a month, why in the world would you give a live in girlfriend that much money, you'the have to be in love or at the end of your rope. Too many beautiful chicas in Medellin to settle in with just one. I love the fact that I can enter into an exito shopping center and spend about $55,000 pesos and know that I don't have to leave home for food for about 4 days, that's insane. If you have an insanely high sex drive, about a $120,000 pesos daily will allow you to bang 3-4 chics in centro and that's still under a $1,000 usd a month. And that's nearly 120 chics a month. So you do the math, why waste $1000 usd on one chic when you can actually have 120 different chics for the same amount? Headed back to Parque Botero to hang out and learn any new tricks that the girls and guys may pull that I haven't seen yet. Pollo Negro is Out.
