Cheap laptop
I'll be in Angeles before the end of a month on an extended stay. Where could I buy or rent a cheap laptop especially for word processing but also for Internet surfing. Cost is a factor and I might give it away before I leave. I am not a lap top man usually. I have an old one but it is too heavy to bring.
If I had a cheap one I could type on for a few hours a day, that would be good, Might help keep me up to speed on go go prices too.
I will post my coments, observations etc after I leave Ph. Last time, I bought a pile of shit that is still largely unusued.

I have struggled with this for some time also, need a laptop to do some work but don't like to lug it around. When the mac air was launched I switched from windows to the air, and it worked fine, now there are a lot of cheaper windows laptops, but no where close to a disposable price in the light weight option. Currently and for the last few years I use a chromebook when traveling. As far as price, compact, weight, and battery life, it is hard to beat a chromebook type of laptop. If you are able to do what you need to on a chromebook type of laptop, I would suggest that as it is fairly disposable as far as pricing.

Finally, we have concrete all the way down walking street, although the road is not pleasing on the eye at least it is fairly complete, there are very high curbs and low road surface and have seen a few drunks stumble at this, was fully expecting that pretty paving slabs would be added but according to those in the know its staying as is.
Masquarade bar top floor seating area is starting to take shape and will be a good addition to walking street and a chilled area to sit and people watch when complete.
The closed down envy bar at the mouth of walking street that had lots of money spent on it just before closing due to little customers looks like new renovations are under way, not sure of what it will be when completed but at least work has started.
The town is really slow for foreign tourist even though we have entered high season, many western bars are really slow with some no customers and very few girls when visited even the once popular lollipop bar and geckos bar were very quiet this past week.
As for the korean punters the numbers are also a little down during the week but swell greatly at weekends and the koreans greatly outnumber the westerners by a long long way on any night.
Atlantis bar, this bar was once the number 1 bar in angeles, not so any more where once there were 150 odd dancing girls we are now down to about 20,some chubby, some older and 2 girls just ok looking (both sat drinking with koreans already) 1 drink and left.
Q bar, although some say they see westerners here, on my multiple visits to QBar with friends I see very few westerners here at all but many asian punters, this past weeks visit saw me and another western friend as the only westerners, although it was not too busy the other customers were koreans, about 12 girls,2 girls just cute but no more, friend tried desperately to get their attention and was ignored by said girls, when 2 asians called them over they immediately went for drinks with the koreans,1 drink and left.
Madonna bar, yes back here yet again with Korean friends, its a nice modern bar, ice cold drinks and a few pretty girls (but nowhere near stunners) probably 25 odd girls, I was the only westerner in, stayed about an hour, our drinks 180 peso, lady drinks 350 peso, barfines 6,000 peso for the top girls, some girls drinks only and of those girls that will barfine unfortunately they are korean only girls.
Xs bar, this is without doubt the shining star of all of walking street by a long way, very busy with all asian punters, again I was the only westerner, great shows put on by attractive girls, attractive black tape girls, the korean manager is super friendly and always tries to give good seats and 1st drink on the house, westerners very welcome for a drink and watch the shows, many girls here are only show girls, many girls are drinks only, a couple of very cute cherry girls, of all the angeles bars Xs bar has the most and cutest girls, of course of the girls that do barfine they are mainly korean only girls with some girls even able to speak korean to a fairly high standard.
In summing up, westernen tourists have voted with their feet not to visit maybe fed up of being ignored by the better looking girls, maybe the high hotel prices the high food prices the high lady drink prices, what ever the reason westerners have mainly deserted angeles, as many have said, koreans are the new kings in town and are still arriving in fairly high numbers, take away the koreans and in all honesty it would be lights out for angeles.

Electronics pricing in the Philippines is nearly identical to the states. I bought my daughter a laptop for her high school and early college years, and a decent laptop with some power behind it was about $600 USD. A decent Chromebook can be bought online for a lot less ($200 is common), but they are designed to become obsolete quickly. For your purposes, I would recommend that, especially if you use google docs. Then give it away when you leave. But buy in the states because you will spend comparatively less.

Cheap laptop
I will probably bring my old laptop and give it away (if anyone will take it).
I looked at lazada and facebook ads (6,900 PHP) but I think a lot of them are dodgy. I understand their pricing as they have to raise taxes somewhere but I thought maybe students etd might have a flourishing 2nd hand market.
The margens are different. Years ago, there were lots of internet cafes. Great places to pick up women. Laundries are all over the palce because not so many own their own wshing machines / dryers, and other examples too.
I imagine there is a market but it is not for us.
One other thing is the sreet food, which is fine to start the day but thye leave it out in the open all day and that has done in my stomach on occasion. Once, when dining with a lady, I watched a rat work itsway into the cafe through a hole. Another roadside place does catering, arranging the special nibbles out in the open, Rough and ready for us, fine by them.
OMG! Never buy used even from friends. You have no idea what websites they have visited or what has been downloaded. There could be all kinds of malware and spyware looking for your bank accounts and passwords.

Wow! Laptop
Wow! You are 10000% right. I would bem ore concerned with what they might have downloaded or if it was a catch whitey scam. Either way, I wil bring my old lap top, give it away when finished) and wiped clean). But every day is really stil la school day.

I've only had two visits to AC and they were coordinated with work commitments and not ultimately by choice.
Taking the whole Korean aspect out of it, the idea of bar fines and the fruit juice lady drinks scam can be avoided.
Guys can try a few different areas in The Phils and 'compensate the poor' in a more accommodating environment.
It is a nation of many islands.
More so for the first timers on the forum, you can actually have a vacation in The Phils, in a nice place, without having to visit AC.
The good times due to the military presence are long gone in AC.
My advice is, don't give up on The Phils.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Just my experience _ Phil.

It is a nation of many islands..
For sure the phills is a huge country with many girls to meet and I'm so happy you have found alternatives to Angeles city.
Many friends that many moons ago lived in Angeles full time and swore they would never leave have moved on years ago, some to other far flung places in the phills, some to Thailand and some to Cambodia, why did they leave, simple, Angeles is a shadow of what it was before, do they have plans to come back and live in Angeles, absolutely not.
Fully agree that angels is basically a slum, bad air, bad food, bad internet, expensive housing / hotels, scams, beggars, robbers and many more things, the whole reason guys were once willing to put up with all the negatives of Angeles was the girls, yes thousands of very pretty, young, attractive girls crammed into every bar, all willing to fuck anyone and stay long time with as many pops as one could muster.
Roll on to todays Angeles and what do we have, well we still have all the negatives posted above but a real lack of young, attractive, slim girls working in the bars, what attractive girls there are are just not interested in whitey, many girls are drinks only, many girls are virgins, many girls have constant men's and multiple excuses not to leave their bar or to leave after the first pop if they do fuck for a living.
Its certainly not good news for westerners that are even slightly fussy in their bed partners in Angeles bars, the good news is as you say many other places in the phills to visit, a few I really enjoy is palawan, boracay, iloilo, malapascu island and bantayan island at the top of cebu, yes these places are not mongering areas but nothing to stop one visiting go out to the restaurants, bars, malls in these places, be friendly, smile and talk politely to the local girls, yes many are shy at first but good things come to those that wait a while.
Happy hunting.

In PH don't overthink too much what goes on behind the scenes in regard to your food, because you may end up on forced diet. I never eat raw stuff, only fried, boiled or grilled food, this is not the place to indulge in cevice (kinilaw), oysters, or rare steaks.
Anyway the quality of the ingredients, is the lowest from the start, even if you do the shopping by yourself, and it's weird that the only place with great produce in a country that's mostly agrarian, is in S&are, imported from California.

There is no reason for the cashed up weekend millionaires to leave Makati, Cebu etc and those with more time or adventurous spirit can head to the larger provincial cities where a little ground work will deliver benefits. With online options now available everywhere, even non mongering areas can hide girls who will drop around or act as local guides to a lot more than visiting waterfalls.
While we might lament the loss of ACs point and shoot options, it couldn't be easier to find pussy elsewhere. Often these options are far more fun and sweeter.
Some guys will complain that PI doesn't have the quality hotels, food or sheer numbers of other options but I find the overall package the best. As usual, YMMV.
Enjoy. G.

Korean Bars
Hi, I am assuming you are a westerner and as such it is still possible to get laid in angeles gogo bars, all one has to do is greatly lower ones expectations on what's available to mr westerner here. Head to the western oriented bars of walking st, geckos bar, masquare bar, lollipop bar, champagne bar, buy yourself a drink, buy a few drinks for the girls, ask about barfine directly with the girl, if girl agrees then off you go, fully expect most girls to bolt after the 1st pop, girl may or may not insist on a condom, may or may not give head or allow pussy sucking regardless of what was agreed to in the bar prior, girls in western bars tend to be, older, fatter and plain in looks.
If one is looking for younger slimmer fairly ok looking girls than what can be found in western bars then such can only be found in korean oriented bars of walking street, as a westerner in a korean bar fully expect to be ignored when trying to get the attention of any of the lookers here, why, well the lookers only drink, fuck with koreans, its not a matter of a westerner having game, being ok looking, offering to pay as much as the koreans, its simply the girls are racist in as much as they have no interest in westerners at all but lots of interest in koreans.
If one is already in manila then making an angeles visit is pointless if one is in the least fussy in girls, better to just pay a bit more in manila where the girls are far more pleasing on the eye.
Happy mongering and let us know what you chose.
What really bothers me is that those Korean bars are pretty empty most nights of the week. The bars that cater to Westerners have bigger crowds at night. (Different during the day.).
I long ago got tired of getting ignored by girls in Korean bars and rarely stop in.
I am going to be back early in December and am going to give the Korean bars one more chance. My plan is go go on off nights and see whether the girls will rather make ZERO money or pay attention to a Westerner.
If all fails, MAYBE I will start visiting Manila. (I just hate the traffic.).

You can buy live fish at the Angeles market, still splashing about in a spit of water. Plenty of fruit is on sale there but it is too expensive for most Pinoys. I don't get that. Someone must have the supply chain by the balls.
With street food, as long as there is running water, it is generally ok. But sitting in the sun. I am talking about cheap cafes, who make the produce at 7 am and are still serviing it at 3 pm.
Good point about the vendors watching their food.
An interesting point is Pinay hookers, being part of the wider Pinoy fmaily, seem to have a worse attitude to food than do their Thai equivalents, who are more into greens and the like. This is leaing Jolibee etc to one side. They just nibble on crap. No wondr they baloon in size when their sponsors take them overseas.

Few years back when I was living next to Diamond Park with a call ctr GF in her apartment, among other hundreds of call ctr girls, I can tell you that she was the only skinny one in her neighborhood.
I was going out with her and her GFs almost daily to Liza's Thai restaurant, being happy that I can put some veggies in my body, and I was the one eating like a girl, mostly beef salad, or something light, while everybody else were stuffing their faces with all kind of noodles, and fried stuff. It felt like I was at Archie's Thai restaurant in the US, all surrounded by whales.
