The "Quandary" or Why I take so few gals these days
Moving to Bangkok as a spry thirty four year old in 99, I was overwhelmed at the sheer volume of P4 P gals available in the many venues on and around Lower Sukhumvit Road. After a fairly sleepy day the area would erupt into with a plethora of working girls and mongers. Truth be told there was very little else in the area. Starting with Soi Nana and ending at Soi Cowboy, the area was really a mongering Disneyland. From the Plaza, to Nana Disco (just an unreal party every night till 2 am. Chocked full of lookers; all 1 k baht) to Soi 11 which was simply the soi the Grand President was on, and in front of the area between sois 11 and 13 was a huge open space with a beer garden that was ringed with shops and in the evening that beer garden was populated by, you guessed it, working girls. Clinton Plaza complete with ST Hotel in the back, Beer Bars across the street in the area that is now Chuvit Park (great story about that one), Thermae stayed open till 6 am, Asoke Plaza where Interchange tower is, and gals lurking in every alcove along the way. You could not walk down Sukhumvit after dark without hearing "go with you" "go with you" every 20 meters. When Nana and Cowboy closed gals who did not get a customer that evening would try to latch onto any dude standing outside. It was the most wonderful kind of madness. The atmosphere was open, fun, and just one big party. As long as you did not hurt anyone else, you could pretty much do whatever you wanted to within reason. At 34 I was one of the youngest guys in the scene. There were lots of 40's, 50's, and 60's expats both making good salaries or retired out and about as well. One reason for choosing BKK was seeing these older dudes all with incredibly hot 20 something gals.
And the P4 P sex mirrored this environment. Gals in the biz wanted to make money, but also wanted to have fun. Salaries in GoGo bars were 6, 7, and 8 for clothed, topless, and nude dancing. ST was 1 k, LT 1. 5 K. Gals wanted to drink, dance, and have a big party every night with their BF, whomever it might be. The actual sex really was GFE. Very little PSE at that point, in many ways much to my disappointment, but the GFE was as available as a bowl of noodles on the street. Skill sets were not amazingly polished but the enthusiasm of the gals and the fact they wanted to have a great time somewhat made up for that.
Purachai's Social Order crackdown that started in '02 was the first game changer. Early closing times, [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140][CodeWord140][/url] tests in bars, etc led to a slow death of the every night is a party night feel that Lower Suk possessed. Albeit a slow decline, it was obvious after a year the direction things were headed. Before I would be hard pressed to choose a gal, often passing up great opportunities knowing that something else and better was just one bar away or 20 meters away.
By the beginning of '06 things the decline had become very apparent. Not only were there fewer gals out on the game, but the quality and the "fun" factor were rapidly disappearing. There would be nights when I really wanted to tear one off but would troll the GoGos, Thermae, and the street and come away empty handed.
The coup in '06 marked the second point of the scene's decline (the first being the Social Order Crackdown). After my first Thailand coup the "feel" of Bangkok as a city changed. After the longest period of stability since WWII Thailand was back to its old tricks again. I think this had a very profound effect on the psyche of the city's population. Politically there has been no stability since and Bangkok has transformed into a real "big city" with typical "big city" attitudes. People were just not as freewheeling and happy and the "farang" seemed to be just a bit less welcome as a resident then before.
The late '00's saw more and more turmoil but throughout that the economy seemed to prosper and with that fewer and fewer gals were entering the biz. This was really apparent with the dwindling numbers of "part-timers" to be had. The "part-timer" was my favorite. There were gals that would come to Thermae and Nana Disco a few times a month just to supplement their pitiful office worker wage. Most were degreed, fairly intelligent, and selective. They went with dudes who they thought they could have fun with. I had several of these who would drive us to the PB Hotel in their cars. Fabulous! These gals were usually excited, horny, and fun.
Perhaps the last demarcation point was the flood in '11. With a large portion of the city thigh deep in water, many gals just could not make it to Lower Suk to ply their trade. Many never returned once the waters retreated. Since then the decline has been steep in all areas. Add in the GoGos turning into tourist areas and the worsening demographics of the Nana area, and the once Disneyland is all but a memory.
Which brings me to my quandary. Back in the day the gals were not so "skilled' but the majority wanted to have fun and at least acted like they wanted to be there. Now the lookers get by on just being lookers. With the days of fun GFEs kind of a thing of the past I am faced with two options. Younger better looking gals who for the most part are not very skilled, not looking for fun, and wanting to grab that money and get out as fast as possible (amazing to pay 3 times what you used to for far less service), or much much older gals with very polished skill sets who just aren't that attractive. I am finding that even the younger gals in the PSE shops don't really have the repertoire to make a 90 minute session interesting. The approaching or over 40 set is quite different. Many have mastered the art of stimulation and even during a long protracted BBBJ they are still not out of tricks. They are in tune to a man's zones and know how to coax, how to tease, and how to give pleasure. Now truth be told in many ways I don't find either of these options to be optimal. Old well, is old. And unskilled is well, boring after 5 minutes. When I have either experience I leave kind of just thinking "meh. " So I really don't take that many gals these days. My three to four a week has dwindled to 3 a month and perhaps at some point it will be even less as the rotation of oily gals that I like is dwindling as they age. Old and skilled or young pretty and fairly useless. Not really great choices in my mind. Would love to see a place with amazingly well trained gals between the ages of 25-32.
Oh, and those dudes who are in their 60's now in Bangkok; well you don't see them with the hot 20 somethings but rather with 40 and up somethings, yikes. Well, change is constant.
But hey, it's still an awesome food town.
