Those of us who have been burned in the Philippines tend to be cynical and pessimistic. Maybe Must Be Jelly has found the perfect girl for him. Its not impossible and I don't think its fair to say that she is for sure a hard hearted scammer. Let him meet her and see how things go. He has been warned and doesn't appear to be an idiot.

Well I've been scammed, and more than once I´m ashamed to say. I never chose to be, but I'm sometimes a gullible fool. Not for large amounts; last time was a few weeks ago when I sent for a ferry ticket for someone who then disappeared. Live and learn.

I do appreciate your's and everyone elses advice and I resent your statment that this is not sinking into my brain. Are you here to help and to provide advice or is it just a mission to insult me? I have actually used most of this advice to formulate questions for her in determining whether or not she is playing. I may not have experience with Phils women but I do have many years of experience with women and they are all sisters in many ways. Apparently you did not clearly read my post where I stated that I had no plans of marriying her right away or at all. I plan on exploring all options. You make it sound like there is not one decent women in the Philippines. Again I thank you for all your advice and I will be sure to move ahead with extreme caution.

Being several thousand miles away will make it very easy for me to say no to giving her money. I may be new to this site and Phils women but it does not mean I am new to the game.

I have sent money in larger amounts for air-ticket etc but they have showed up.

So it is hard to say who is a scammer and who is not.

Only reason I gave this guy strong advice is he is thinking of getting serious with this lady and marrying her just on the basis of chatting online.

Besides he has asked for advice in this forum. So take it with a grain of salt and decide your own fate.

If he gets into her pants with a few dollars expense so be it.

On the topic of scams, I must say that it is more of a lottery in my opinion. I sent 1000 PHP yesterday (via staff in Phil to avoid the ridiculous "transfer fees") to a girl that I have seen and fucked before. She is not 100% reliable, but I figured I will take my chances. If she does not turn up when I come to punani heaven, I see this as just some more money spent on nothing substantial (beer falls in this category as well). Compared to what I blow on other things I can not see why I need to loose sleep on investing 1000 PHP in this little bunny. She is dirt poor.

Most time I find that I win in the send_money_lottery. Even if we are careful and select whom we sponsor, we will have a few losses, but it goes with mongering IMHO.

It is all a big equation where the quality of life in for example my country, is intricately related to all the countries that we but f*cked for a century or two, in order to build our wealth. For me it is more relevant to not buy small unnecessary plastic gizmos produced in environmental aggressive countries and shipped all over the world, than to relocate a fraction of our wealth by making a small bet on if a girl will show up to bang me or not.

Must Be Jelly, if she is special you must of course meet her. How can you back out at this stage? Like not reading the last chapter of a great book. We all need a mission and she is maybe yours, for a years or ten. All men reason (or reasoned) like you do at times. We get more or less consumed by a womans "problems" and try to solve at least parts of them, while still not paying to high of a price financially / emotionally / practically. Doesn't this engagements in life's practical matters give a feeling of having some sort of meaning on this little round piece of dust in the great black void? The cynic calls this engagement pathetic, and has most often been there playing this couples game in the past (over doing this is perhaps part of his path to cynicism). The romantic calls this inviting the potential passion of commitment into our brief existence. You simply can't deny it, we are born as social creatures and we feel pretty good when we can do something together with, or for, a person you consider YOUR loved one. We love to help someone we care for and men have a genetic disposition towards being "a provider". In a sense it is often this "YOUR" that is the key question, since we all tend to get terribly, or at least partly, upset if we do find out that we did give a sh*t and she was in fact not ONLY yours. This of course boils down to the genetically programmed fear of wasting your hard earned resources, on someone else's DNA. Even if we on a rational level know that it does not mean a rats ass who gave her this lap top, most men carry a primal fear that someone else will have his penis in her vagina and impregnate her, and then using the looser's hard earned bucks to pay for this bastard child.

Must Be Jelly, not sure if you visited the Philippines, but as many pointed out she is considered old by anyone who knows the availability in the Philippines. I know one guy who was planning his trip to Pi for months, and he resorted to a woman that was more or less the only one he got contact with. He made this selection not based on the woman being special, but rather on the woman being passed due date for many men, hence available and there for him when he needed to build up some tension and excitement over his upcoming trip. Needless to say, the woman was disappointed since there was a disproportion between her expectations and what he delivered in terms of attention once he was surrounded by teens throwing damp knickers in his face.

One last thing in this little essay (sorry). I wrote it before and feel the urge to repeat it: men need to start to stand up for their nature. If a woman forbids you from talking about sex, she is in fact forbidding you to be who you are born to be. You are, and should never pretend to be, a woman. We need to inform women at every possible chance we get that thinking of sex, talking about sex and even dreaming about sex IS what how we where created. We did not choose this more than we choose to feel hunger or have a heart beat. If a woman complains about her ex bf fucking other women (she is in fact trying to define some game rules for you) , we must not try to falsely impress her, but rather be honest and state that you can understand him because he is a man and men are born with this restless desire. Scold him for bringing shame onto her, but express sympathy for him as a man with the fundamental need to spread his royal seed. It is a womans duty to invite her friends to keep him accommodated. If she fails to please him, he will loose self control and stick his shaft in other females. Isn't life simple sometimes? .

I would suggest to any one dating a woman from to phils to do it with a bit of caution and to set your goals on educated, working women. One of the best careers for a filipina, specificly an educated filipina is a call center job. I have met several filipinas and most of the very attractive ones are under educated and not working and like beautiful women from any country they want to be taking care of. For that matter even the least attractive ones want support. You can find a working woman (non prostitute) in her 30's who will make a great companion and really want a good guy like many of you here. If you choose to date an extremely poor filipina you will pay for her, her family, her children, her food and possibly her phil bf. What does a westernized man have in common with a dirt poor extremely under educated filipina? Nice, sweet, sexy or not pre requisites for marriage or a real relationship. Now the women I described 30ish WORKING and educated is not the majority they are indeed the minority but their there and they would love to have a good westernized man. They may not be as sexy or skinny but their great companions. Considered yourselves the Hot Blond. Hot blondes don't marry for looks and in many cases love either but they marry for security. So find a woman that can benefit you, nurses in the phils are a great choice specially if you live in the states where nurses are in high demand.

You see this and then you think, what gives?

The reality, from a Chinese girls thought perspective is that if she dates a hot guy, and marries him hes still goning to be hot and will still be tempted. I just came from Manila for a few days of R and R. After going through the usual bar scene (Burgos, Mabini.) , I tried hanging out in Cafe's and "normal" bars. Got tired of dealing with pimps and girls who were just wasting my time and money. I met this 30ish educated woman in one of the coffee shops and we just started with a casual conversation. She knows how to speak English, was very well conversed and I found it quite amusing to meet a Filipina who was, for all intents and purposes, an "equal." Ok, she wasn't sexy, a bit on the chubby side. Not the looker I was used to dealing with and paying for. But, she was great in the sack. What an experience. Tight pussy. And all she wanted was to have fun. No talk of money or the usual taxi fare after. No sick family member or bus tickets that need to be bought. No mamasan. She had her own car and own place. After we met once, I got her number and met up a few times more before I left. Just casual sex for free with no complications (although she did have rules like rubbers, no pictures.).
