[/QUOTE]Most of my life this year has been spent in the hospital where everyone is wearing a mask for 13+ hours a day. Some have to wear an N95 mask for the entire day. It's amazing how much a person can adapt to the current situation. I've learned that smile has become unnecessary to read a person's attitude. Eyes and demeanor is enough, not ideal, but more than enough.

It's rooted in lack of self-confidence. Tell yourself enough bullshit to get through tough realities and you forget when you're bullshitting yourself altogether.
Along those lines, I've definitely seen a noticeable increase in mentions of personal member size. Quite a strange behavior. My wealthy friends never speak about their finances without direct prompt, friends who are gifted athletes never mention their accolades when it's not the topic of conversation, and I certainly don't know a single person who ever mentions their dick size unless we're just a bunch of dudes joking around, and half of my friends are 90 kg, 1.9 m black guys!
That behavior is somewhat harmless, mostly just annoying as fuck. Oddly enough, that bullshitting yourself to persevere a positive sense of self is similar to the "power of positivity" mindset. Obviously positive thinking can be deployed as a immensely beneficial strategy; but as evident here, there's a fine line where that positive thinking crosses into the realm of being pathological; it becomes a mental disease. Anyway, it doesn't really harm others, and like I said earlier, it's just annoying as fuck.
However there are people whose mental trauma manifests as behavior that is detrimental to society. You see the guys diving into ridiculous conspiracy theories. It stems from the same roots of insecurity. The thing about those guys is that they're always the ones who have sucked at most things in life, resulting in grown men who never acquire social value. Conspiracy theories gives them the off chance of being right once in a full moon and getting a short taste of having some twisted sense of value. Most of the time it's harmless but then 2020 has shown how society's outcasts can become the biggest obstructionists to progress. See: USA Capitol Rioters, COVID downplayers, and anti-vaxxers. As yourself, have you ever seen the confident, "alpha-male" type guys dive deep into conspiracy theories or entertain fringe "news"? No, they're actually happy with their lives.
