Because some of the guys on the forum still dream about days that don't exist anymore. They are also the ones that complain that a lot of WG's prefer Asian customers to Farangs. Why, because for an Asian it is a matter of face not to be seen as a miser whereas Farangs have the reputation of haggling about 10 Baht with a Tuk Tuk driver.
I am not condoning silly prices and totally dislike the new Coyote trend but when I receive good service, be it in an Oily or from my hairdresser, I tip welll, because good service should be rewarded and the gesture is always appreciated.
When Paul Kausch and I do one of our overnight parties with a bunch of girls we don't count every Baht we spend. The objective is for all of us to have a good time and that includes enough food and booze and a good tip in the morning because we had a great time.
That's a wild generalisation about 'Asians'. Chinese and Indians are known as non-tippers. If you want to tip, tip but don't act all self-righteous about it.

Stickman's Last Hurrah
Looks like Stickman is hanging up the cleats within a week or two.
I admit, I never knew his website, column, and / or his commentary ever existed till last year (2014). But a good realm of information.
I guess he's had enough of Bangkok and is heading back home to Farangland (Australia I presume). I have read back a year and skipped around his columns from year to year reading up on the changes.
My or my.
Good Luck to Stickman and a mighty bow for the many years you put in informing the many mongers (punters) on the ins and outs of Thailand.

But then you have to specify "Chinese" as well. Hong Kong Chinese generally tip well.
I am not being self righteous, just expressing my personal view that has been shaped over the past 30 years in Asia.

More wild and self righteous are the cheap charlies posts. Yes time has past by and the "good ole days" are gone. Like I said before, if you didn't help me make my money then don't tell me how to spend it!

That seems self-righteous to me. If you have experience of Asia you'll know that tipping is not a part of Japanese culture at all. And most Thais will haggle with a tuk tuk driver. It's the sensible thing to do if you don't want to get ripped off. Personally I prefer fixed prices because I think looking at the bigger picture it's in the interests of both the customer and the service provider. The only ones who really benefit from tipping are the employers, who can pay their staff lower wages knowing that the tips will make up for it.

Tipping
I am Chinese-American, so either I am neither Asian or Western, or I am both. I generally try to follow the board reports regarding prices and tips. So your reports including prices and tips are very helpful. However, when I get a dud or a gem, the rules change. I don't tip a penny if I get a starfish, runner or one who refuses to give BJ, etc. When I get a gem, sometimes the sky is the limit.
I met a dancer at Suzie Wong on this trip and ended seeing her for three days and nights. It's going to be a long report and I am quite busy right now, so the report may take a couple days to complete. I ended giving her 5,000 bts each day plus we went out to nice places for lunch and dinner. She did not ask for it. There was no talk of money after the first night. I was so contented with her company that I gave her what I felt was right. Anyway, it will all be in my report. Stay tuned.
On the issue of chat apps, how are you using these to find girls? You need to exchange IDs or numbers first so if you wanted to make contact a second time they would be useful but I can't see how you're using them to find a new girl.
Some of these chat apps like for example WeChat and Tango have a feature that scans for people nearby who are using the same app. Usually the range is about 2 or 3 kilometers in densily populated areas.
You can filter for women only and then send the ones you like a message. If they accept your invitation you can have a chat.
Or you just wait for women who invite you, which gives better results in my experience so far.

And this subject will wither and die shortly only to come back again in six months.
Guys. Recognise that there are more importnat things about mongering than tipping.
Next subject up. How to get a cheap (er) ride from the Airport by guys who have spent $1,000 on a flight and look to save $2-3 on the taxi fare into Bangkok. Use the taxi service, get in the cab, pay.
The tolls and demand that the meter be put on. Not rocket science.

And it seems unlikely that top quality girls would be sending invitations to random farangs. I have no experience using these apps for anything other than chatting with friends and family so correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're not even close to replacing bars and massage parlours as a place to P4 P.

Attached are a few pictures from girls that are P4 P and contacted me via WeChat Discover mode.

Wechat wonders
Wechat is great way to talk to average girls in Thailand of all types. Most WLs are also on wechat or line. But you are right, it's a sellers market (I. E. Many more guys on line than girls) so buyer beware!

I bow to your expertise and leave it at that.

April Fool?
I was impressed by Crazy House girl line up last Thursday. Sunday was not impressed. The penny has now dropped. Thursday was 2nd of April. Girls must have got paid on this day and virtually everyone showed up except those that lost the entire salary in fines. So great set of girls and not many customers.
Sunday, the customers were more-so, and the girls much less so. I did not stay too long with most of the best girls missing. I realised that I don't really go much for several incredibly short girls. One was almost a dwarf. Like 4 foot 6 inches I guess. Completely nude, she still wasn't that sexy for my taste. Girls I bought drinks for recently have been of the taller group. I suppose being tallish myself, I have got bored by really short girls. I best leave them for the short men. Normally Crazy House has a good set of medium to taller girls.
