Can anyone confirm the reports I hear that Soi 13 has taken a very dodgy turn, with groups of Africans at the top of the Soi, being a menacing presence, or actually harrassing / threatening people? I'm due to stay on soi 13 in Mid September, last time I was there there were no problems at all!

I walk by there all the time, no problems.
Probably just racists making BS rants.
If you afraid, stay someplace else.
Honey Hotel? Don't be confused with Honey house hotel in soi 22. They have two hotels in same soi, honey house 1 & 2. I have stayed in Honey house 1 for 2 days. Paid same 800bht for a basic room. It's my worst stay ever for BKK. Very much tiny room on 1st floor with wooden floor. Narrow passage for the line of face to face rooms. Any one walk through the passage, if his room is in the end, undoubtedly he is announcing he has been brought his girl because of the noise of her / his shoes on the wooden floor. Suddenly you will woke up or will stop your waist moving in your room when you hear this crunchy sound in midnight or end of night or in the start of the night too.
Annoying? I was lucky for that stay because of my room is just the start. And was not in need to bring girls from outside. Was unlucky enough to seeing each time the chewing face of my TGF for the girls / guests strolling through the passage.
What a wrong selection it was.
Sorry to change the discussion currently underway. Definitely make sure your going to Soi 19 for Honey Hotel. Sounds like the Honey house place wouldn't work for me! I think I have found my home in BKK when I visit though with the Soi 19 Honey Hotel. The only thing I should have done when I was there was PARTY MORE! LOL

No, I'm not afraid or worried, just interested to see whether the word was true or not, and if so, to what extent. From the report of one guy I know, you'd reckon it Soi 13 had turned in to downtown Kinshasa.
I checked some hotels this weekend around Huai Khwang.
The Emerald has an impressive lobby, but amenities are quite dated. Rooms are more than 4000 a night which is overpriced for what's offered.
The Swissotel Le Concorde surprised me with its prices, around 3500 a night, which is cheaper than I expected. However, the rooms are just ok, I wasn't impressed. You can find better and more central for the same price. Has anyone been in the Swissotel close to Nana? How does it compare?
I had organised for a client to stay there for one night on his overnight stopover in Bangkok but unfortunately he checked out after an hour. The room was laced with some sort of insect and for the price a much better standard can be had elsewhere. On top of that the women have this 'Madonna' like diva attitude which is slightly confusing considering they are not even close to being pretty.
The 'boss' himself didn't seem interested in listening to the issues and subsequently my friend moved out to the Sofitel which has newly opened. That hotel was top class and I enjoyed meeting him for a drink there before taking in the delights of the Office and Cowboy!
I don't think anyone is even going to take you seriously on a 3rd hand report, given your posting history.

Better before the fancy menu; (iii) there is nothing special about the WGs in the Sports bar (and the 'bar fine is high in comparison with other place) ; and (iv) Soi 33 has lost its class and has become just another scruffy night club street.
Over the years there has been minimal investment in improving the rooms which are sparse.
Bargain and you can do better elsewhere as I will in November.

Just booked at the Grand Millennium Bangkok. Any joiner fees, are they GF? I read one post that said they were but would like reassurance if any ISG members are in the know.
I've stayed there a number of times and always booked for two. Never a joiner fee and I've brought in a few Soi Cowboy fems that could've won the "*" dress for the millenium.
You can get far better bang for your buck than Livingstones. Below average accommodation with below average girls.
Have you actually been there or is that second hand information?
Please inform us of the better price, place, better looking girls and better food place. You seemed to have left that part out.
I bet Nic would like to hear that also. No, I don't personally know Nic.

Soi 33 has become just like any scruffy Soi off Sukhumvit. The good but expensive 'dead artists' bars (which provided a bit of class over the bars of Nana and Soi Cowboy (albeit at a price) have been replaced with very ordinary bars and small, catering for Japanese, massage places.
You know, or should know, that L'stones is one of the very few hotels with its own brothel. Over years the quality has declined. Much better to go research Soi Cowboy.
The food when 'Mama' cooked fresh food in her cabin at the gate was great; I have only had two evening meals at Livingstones since the whole kitchen set up changed both forced on me by a downpour. Again restaurants change but the 'food barn on Soi 7 has great fish just as an example.
