I am a Joe Rogan point on the spectrum
I am a Joe Rogan point on the spectrum.
Again, I highly respect your posts, which are insightful, up to and including the latest.
That said, I think you perhaps mis categorize me as being at one end.
Politics in America -- and in much of the world, to include Israel -- is a 48 - 48 - and 4 split.
In America, it is 48 democrat, 48 republican, and 4 in the middle, which I would submit to you is the Hillbilly elegy demographic, which was the swing vote in 2016, and the swing vote again in 2020. Hillbilly elegy is a wildly successful book, now a Netflix special for the ADD among us.
Joe Rogan is a -- indeed, the most successful -- podcaster, now on Spotify for a tidy 100 m. He famously moved from CA to TX, for reasons I entirely associate myself with, to use the language of the senate. Joe Rogan is on record as: Supporting Tulsi Gabbard because she is a veteran, among other reasons; for saying he would not vote for Biden because he has dementia; and for voting in fact for Joe Jorgenson, the libertarian candidate -- the 4%. That is pretty much where my politics are. As the saying goes, I voted with my feet, and voted in almost exactly the same way as Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan likes to interview Jocko Willink, who in turn has interviewed James Webb (jameswebb.com), a former Presidential Candidate in 2016.
At the risk of being a political chameleon, I am a Joe Rogan dude. I like country music, but one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs is "We Shall Be Free".
This ain't comin' from no prophet.
Just an ordinary man.
When I close my eyes I see, the way this world shall be.
When we all walk hand in hand.
When the last child cries for a crust of bread.
When the last man dies for just words that he said.
When there's shelter over the poorest head.
We shall be free.
When the last thing we notice is the color of skin.
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within.
When the skies and the oceans are clean again.
Then we shall be free.
We shall be free.
We shall be free.
Stand straight, walk proud.
'Cause we shall be free.
When we're free to love anyone we choose.
When this world's big enough for all different views.
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew.
Then we shall be free, yeah.
But, in contrast to most stereotypes of country music fans, I am a Garth Brooks liberal and agree with much of what Brooks -- one of the most successful poets in America, arguably -- writes in the above lyrics.
I see myself as a Christian -- albeit a terrible sinner. But I believe in the God of Spinoza, which you can also google, as did Einstein.
When Einstein gave lectures at USA Universities, the recurring question that students asked him most was:
- Do you believe in God?
And he always answered:
- I believe in the God of Spinoza.
Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher considered one of the great rationalists of 17th century philosophy, along with Descartes.
(Spinoza) : God would say:
Stop praying.
What I want you to do is go out into the world and enjoy your life. I want you to sing, have fun and enjoy everything I've made for you.
Stop going into those dark, cold temples that you built yourself and saying they are my house. My house is in the mountains, in the woods, rivers, lakes, beaches. That's where I live and there I express my love for you.
Stop blaming me for your miserable life; I never told you there was anything wrong with you or that you were a sinner, or that your sexuality was a bad thing. Sex is a gift I have given you and with which you can express your love, your ecstasy, your joy. So don't blame me for everything they made you believe.
Stop reading alleged sacred scriptures that have nothing to do with me. If you can't read me in a sunrise, in a landscape, in the look of your friends, in your son's eyes. ➤ you will find me in no book!
Stop asking me "will you tell me how to do my job?" Stop being so scared of me. I do not judge you or criticize you, nor get angry, or bothered. I am pure love.
Stop asking for forgiveness, there's nothing to forgive. If I made you. I filled you with passions, limitations, pleasures, feelings, needs, inconsistencies. Free will. How can I blame you if you respond to something I put in you? How can I punish you for being the way you are, if I'm the one who made you? Do you think I could create a place to burn all my children who behave badly for the rest of eternity? What kind of god would do that?
Respect your peers and don't do what you don't want for yourself. All I ask is that you pay attention in your life, that alertness is your guide.
My beloved, this life is not a test, not a step on the way, not a rehearsal, nor a prelude to paradise. This life is the only thing here and now and it is all you need.
I have set you absolutely free, no prizes or punishments, no sins or virtues, no one carries a marker, no one keeps a record.
You are absolutely free to create in your life. Heaven or hell.
I can't tell you if there's anything after this life but I can give you a tip. Live as if there is not. As if this is your only chance to enjoy, to love, to exist.
So, if there's nothing after, then you will have enjoyed the opportunity I gave you. And if there is, rest assured that I won't ask if you behaved right or wrong, I'll ask. Did you like it? Did you have fun? What did you enjoy the most? What did you learn?.
Stop believing in me; believing is assuming, guessing, imagining. I don't want you to believe in me, I want you to believe in you. I want you to feel me in you when you kiss your beloved, when you tuck in your little girl, when you caress your dog, when you bathe in the sea.
Stop praising me, what kind of egomaniac God do you think I am?
I'm bored being praised. I'm tired of being thanked. Feeling grateful? Prove it by taking care of yourself, your health, your relationships, the world. Express your joy! That's the way to praise me.
Stop complicating things and repeating as a parakeet what you've been taught about me.
What do you need more miracles for? So many explanations?
The only thing for sure is that you are here, that you are alive, that this world is full of wonders.
- Spinoza.
My view is that Joe Rogan would agree with both the Country Music of Garth Brooks and the God of Spinoza as Einstein saw it.
Now, as to Marxism, I can cite several sources which argue that there is a marxist attack on American institutions including the military. There is a book by a US Air Force LtCol Lohmeir, see.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/outsted-space-force-playbook-marxism-tucker-carlson-today
On this same intellectual thread, there is a letter by 100+ retired American generals and admirals making the same argument.
So, while the likelihood of Marxism succeeding in taking over America is perhaps slim, what we only really need to see is enough of a victory by the marxists for America to lose the reserve currency status of the US Dollar (see eichengreen, exorbitant privilege).
There is an excellent review of the eichengreen book on economist.com which I commend to we few, we happy few mongers.
Which brings me back to our common topic, mongering.
My view as a economist, such that I am, is to agree with economist.com on the subject of mongering, P4 P, etc. You can find the economist.com argument in favor of prostitution. I don't need to link to it.
So, my argument that Brazil is a great country because it has porn star quality hot dogfartnetwork wefuckblackgirlsdotcom quality negras and latinas at the price point of 8 USD for 10 minutes, just enough to shower it, wrap it, and bust a nut in a bent over bunda is within that context. It is illegal in puritanical (the opposite of the god of Spinoza) America. It may be legal in parts of Euroland, but at a higher price point. It can be had in 'merica, but for Ana Foxxx, it is like 1000 USD, and for a shitty, controlled experience, or for similarly inflated prices.
So, I conclude: I am a Joe Rogan middle 4 % swing voter in terms of my view of this topic, American politics.
Sorry to say, senior Vagabundo, but those people come from your political end of the spectrum.
So much for peaceful changes, alas.

This explains exactly the middle of the spectrum where I'm with joe Rogan.
