I totally agree that el centro feels a lot of safer than the seedy part of a major US city. It has about 1/10 of homeless people compare to San Francisco. My issue is that I have absolutely zero Spanish speaking skills. I visited all the strip joint near parque botero, it's way cheaper than gusto and la isla, but the ambiance is not nearly as nice. There are a few hot girls (most of them are below a 4 in my book), but there is no way I can google translate her back to my place, especially at 11 pm with an iPhone X.

Almost sounds like your bragging, but I don't think that's the case.

I would think twice about carrying around an expensive "I" phone with you, there have been several posts about phones being stolen.

In regards to carrying a "stash" on you. Not a good idea being a foreigner as crooked cops will extort money from you, where as a Colombian may just have there stash taken away from them and walk. I have seen this in the bus station where a drug sniffing dog discovered some pot on someone, it was confiscated with no repercussions for the Colombian. However a foreigner in Parque Lleras, and around that area, will most probably not just walk away unscathed. There have been posts about this as well.

So my advice to you is, keep your "I" phone and stash in your room.

I am a 37 year old who lives in Medellin and my wife is 30. That is quite a large age gap IMO. If you're 50 or 60 please do not think a woman under 30 is in love with you for anything other than your money.
