In almost a month in Medellin I only ventured to El Poblado and Parque Lleras once, walked through the area in the middle of a rainy day when obviously thee was no action. I meant to come back in the evening sometime but never got around to it, was having too much fun in Laureles and El Centro. I've reflected that I was probably missing out on some fun, and must go there when I come back! But after having read your post, I'm not so sure I want to!
As I posted before I was only propositioned by two SWs in Lleras Park, one of them I swear looked about 60 years old. The ones that I did pick up there were mostly just sitting alone and would be making eye contact as I walked by. One Thursday night I had walked up to one who was very cute and had a nice ass, and told her so after confirming that she was working, even she just smiled at me as I would walk by but wasn't pushy. I bought my beer from that beer store next to Juan Valdez 5 Mil for Heineken. One thing I noticed about the SWs that was unlike say the Clock Tower in Cartagena, those chicas in Lleras park did not stay in one spot for a whole lot of time.
I agree that the musicians could be a little annoying, I decided to get them on video so I ask them to play, after they said 50 Mil, I handed them 20 Mil and told them they should have named the price before and not after. The worst I experienced were the little kids who were bumming, those little shits are persistent, I have never been harassed on that level before, with the possible exception of a rug salesman in Istanbul while I was waiting to get into the Hagia Sophia. I would have given the kids in the park some small change but I wondered if they would just keep coming back. I even told them that their being too aggressive about it was why I wasn't giving them anything. They had lied and said they were Venezuelan so I asked an SW nearby and she said no they are Colombians. I even had one approach me while I was buying a beer and point toward the beer case like he wanted me to buy him a beer, he was maybe 13 years old, I looked at him and I looked at a policeman across the street and he chilled, I finally learned that if I walked directly toward a police officer when they were bothering me that they would walk away.
The second strangest thing I encountered in Lleras Park other than a 60 year old looking SW was a homeless gringo, a homeless gringo in Medellin. I do not know what kinds of drugs he was strung out on but what a situation he got himself into. He told me some story about coming to Medellin with some Colombian girl from Miami. But I made my excuse and left before he could finish his story.
