I believe that there are no direct flights from NYC to Asuncion, so I'm flying down to Sao Paulo and I'll be waiting two hours for my connecting flight to Asuncion, so more or less 14 hours to get to Asuncion from NYC. Same coming back. One thing that I noticed while searching my flight was that for some reason prices increase dramatically over the weekend, so don't buy your ticket over the weekend! I plan on staying a couple of days in Asuncion and then I'm going to try to visit Argentina, it all depends, if I end up having a blast in Asuncion I prob wont make to Argentina =)

Good info thanks. I just got off the phone with TAM. They quoted me a price of $410 RT from BA to Asuncion. I assume I would have to pay the $ departure tax on both ends as well.

They mentioned that I have to use a brazilian credit card when buying online?

I have a free ticket to BA if I want so buying a ticket doesnt make sense.

The same questions comes to mind. What is the advantage of going through all the hassle to get to asuncion when I can put the $500+ to use in BA ? The math doesn't add up in my book.

The bus might be a better option stopping in rosario half way.

Also worth mentioning is if you are coming from new york to asuncion on TAM you need to switch in san paulo.
