Phnom Penh

Just a few lines of my experiences on a brief side trip to Cambodia a few months ago. Spent most of my days in Thailand as usual but Cambodia is an interesting country. Not a place to spend a long time. 10 days was sufficient for me. Flew to SR, then bus to PP and Sihannoukville and back to PP, very easy and convenient.
Checked out Martini’s but very few people there and didn’t like the ambience so left for Sharky’s. More my kind of place, a normal bar with freelance girls. Rejected two before I took a slim and cute 24 year old Khmer back to the hotel. Very nice and accommodating, but much lower service when back in the room. No BJ and rather dull. Also had an ugly scare from a caesarean operation. Wanted to leave after the first round, which was just as well. Have to negotiate the terms better in the future. Stayed at Flamingo as recommended in the board, and can fully agree. They called from the reception when she left to check if I was ok.

I booked Sovan for a day last month and can guarantee you he is a good guy who certainly knows his way around Cambodia. His taxi is in good shape and is comfortabe, his rates are great and he is a personable guy.

Rooms at Scandia aren't very good, the pool and oasis-like, friendly atmosphere were the main draws. Like I said, I'd stay at the Flamingo.

I wouldn't worry about bringing girls in to any hotel, it's when you don't bring a girl in that you will get funny looks. Only time I ever got a girl refused was when I brought a couple of Martini girls to Golden Gate, turns out quite a few NGO's put their workers up there. Moved out the next day.

I would feel funny bringing girls to FCC, so I never stayed there. Too many non-monger tourists at the restaurant.

Be sure to include a trip to Snooky, I think you'd like it. Nice beach and plenty of girls.

Thanks.[/QUOTE]The PARIS HOTEL on Kampuchea Krom (not to be confused with The New Paris Hotel on the same street) has decent, large rooms for $15. My 8th flor room was an end room with a great view of a tree lined, residential boulevard with Boeung Kak Lake (marsh actually) beyond.

There is a reasonably well stocked massage fishbowl on the 3rd floor ofering in room massage for $7 an hour. Additional services are negotiated between you and your selected maiden. They start high, sometimes asking as much as $40 FS, but will usually settle for $20. I am not a particularly tough bargainer so less might be possible. Quality of service varies girl to girl.

Wifi was not available when I stayed there in March.

Kampuchea Krom is a business area with little nightlife aside from several hotel casinos but the ever-present moto drivers out front know every bar and den in Phnom Phen.

They will pick you up at the Airport but now charge for the service.

I really liked the Flamingo Hotel. Book in advance and the driver will pick you up at the airport. It's not on the river and doesn't have a fishbowl but it is very close to Walkabout and many other clubs/bars in that area. Just one problem-usually full.[/QUOTE]There are some security issues at Flamingos; I've had a mobile stolen from my room and a friend had his digital camera stolen from the wardrobe in his room even though he had put a bicycle chain on the doors. Apparantly the thief unscrewed the door hinges.

Mr Kim was apologetic but pointed out that the rooms have signs warning residents to use the lockboxes at the reception desk, so if you do stay there, make sure you use the lockboxes for all your valuables including passports and airline tickets. They do have some that are large enough to hold a notebook computer.

An interesting sidelite re: Passports. The reason stolen ones are a hot commodity is not that they change them to another name, it is that they need the well used looking covers and pages with entry and exit stamps to make a newly made one look more authentic.

I know that I am a fan of Flamingos, but I would say that all hotels have a security problem to a certain extent.

I always keep my phone with me and so the only opportunity for theft would be when I have someone in my room. I leave my irreplaceables in the security box and keep no more than a few hundred dollars in my room (but never on full view). Maybe I have been lucky with the guests that have returned with me but most of this is down to common sense.

I have left my camera in room during the day, on bedside table, and have had no problem with general staff. I do try to maintain a rapport with the staff, including the cleaners, and they know that there will be a nice tip at the end of my stay. This does allow me to feel much more relaxed during my stay.

On my last stay I did leave my laptop in the wardrobe, inside a small case, and did feel a little vulnerable. I thought about using a bike chain, and was thinking of doing the same when I return next time. After reading your report, I am not so sure; maybe the chain just draws attention to the contents!!

I have heard guest at the hotel being extremely vocal about how his credit card had been stolen by the staff from under his mattress. This was maintained for a day telling anyone, and everyone, who would listen. When his card turned up, in another of his 'hiding places' he was nowhere near as vocal. The result of this is that people are left believing there is a bigger problem than there actually is.

I have bought by the Central Market Pharmacies. They were about $4-$5 for a packet. They worked just fine for me !

The "central market pharmacies" -

The traffic around the central market runs counterclockwise. There is a turn to the left (a corner) which IF you didn't take the turn would take you DIRECTLY to street 51 (Pasteur) it's street 136 See the map in the link - it's right at the BOTTOM of the market in this map.

The pharmacies are on both sides of the street but the one on the right side (going to street 51) with the boxes of pills in the window was the cheapest place I found. there is a quantity discount, but I didn't figure exactly how much "quantity" there had to be to get "better prices" (either that or they just gave me the "quantity discount" anyway - I did spend $30 or so)

They sell both "apsalis" (cialis generic - about 2X the price as "XXagra") and several "XXagra" versions - XX is the "name" - Kam, Pen, Gen, whatever. They were the lowest cost of the 4 pharms I asked

DO NOT BUY "CHINESE BLUE DEVILS" ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS!!! I suspect they are cornstarch in blue wrappers. Get the INDIAN product in the box and check the expiration date

Well, I made it to Cambodia about 6 months ago, stayed about 3 days in the shithole named Phnom Penh. Stayed at the Flamingo hotel, which is walking distance from a few bars (not to mention a massage parlor across the street). Anyway, on to the good stuff:

Sophies - tried this out the first night. Directions were spot on, walked up the dirty filthy stairway and knocked on the door at about 6. They let me in, and I was surprised at just how small the bar was. It has one or two couches, and a small bar where about 7 or 8 people can sit down. I take a seat, order a beer, and within seconds my dick is out and 3 ladies are arguing over who gets to suck me off first. This goes on for about 10 minutes, then I choose the best looking one to go back to the room. The other 2 asked for a tip --- 3 dollars. I was like wtf I thought it was only a dollar each (as reported on this forum). Anyway, we go back to the dingy room, turn the lights off and the girl gives me a great bbbj followed by FS - 10 bucks.

Le Cyrcee --- this place is a hell of a lot better than Sophies. I actually found it by accident; walked in about 7 pm, sat down at the bar and had a drink. The bar is a decent size, with stools behind the bar as well and a sitting area in the corner. I was the only guy in there so about 10 ladies were molesting me at the same time. Nice. They each let me feel their breasts (and other parts) while I was drinking a beer. So difficult to choose, but then this hot little Vietnamese girl walked in. I think her name started with an A but I'm not sure. Really big tits and cute. A bit short, but very nice. Walked upstairs and the room was okay, although the ceilings are really low. BBBJ which was just okay at best, then she put an extra big condom on. I mean this thing was HUGE, big enough for a fucking horse! She finally agreed to bring her friend (who was also hot) over to my place for $30. I waited but the ***** never showed up. Still, a pretty good bar - it also has an outside area to hang out when it's not raining.

Street 63 - Well, one night when I was a bit drunk and horny, I stepped out of a bar and one of the moto drivers asked me "You want beautiful girl to fuck you?" I looked at him and said "Yeah but only Vietnam girl. No Khmer." So he took me to Street 63. Walked up to some building and the lights went on and a bell went off when I walked up. Walked up some stairs and saw about 10 Vietnamese girls sitting around a room. The oldest was about 25, the youngest couldn't have been more than 8 years old. Disgusting. The guy told me "You fuck for $30." But seeing the 8-year old just made me feel sorry for the girls. Walked out as fast as I could and went to bed.

Rose Bar --- I don't think you can fuck any of these girls, but they serve good food and it's the only place I know of where you can get beer lao in the bottle, the greatest beer in all of Asia (IMO). Talked to a few of the girls; they were quite nice but I just don't know what the deal is and didn't want to ask because I liked coming there.

Shanghai bar -- This is right by the Flamingo. Good bar with drinks written in chalk on the menu above the bar. The girls are pretty hot, and talked to one of them for about an hour, but at the end of the night when I told her that I wanted to take her home she wasn't having any of it. "I don't go home with anyone" she said. I was a bit annoyed - well, really annoyed but I guess that'll teach me not to ask what the score is up front. Pretty good bar with outside seating, but only one pool table.

All in all a good trip. I'd say Sharky's is hit and miss, but Le Cyrcee was the highlight for me. Much prettier girls there than the shithole Sophie's.
