Just got in a few days ago and have paid twice for LT at 2k each time. Last time I was here was 2005 and going price was 1500. Service was very good for that 2k, very enthusiastic and 3 shots per night. I just figured 2k is now the norm.

I did however encounter some bad attitude when my Club Lucifer spinner was too drunk to perform for the negotiated 1500 LT. After some pretty fierce fighting in my room with security as a ref, I gave up 1ooo to get rid of her. Street girls are just a pain in the ass. Spkg of street, where is famous Na?

I think that's the opening bid at gogos generally. In soi 6 I've been offered 1000 LT without bargaining on quite a few occasions (that's excluding about 400 BF), but this was shortly before closing time of course. A very nice waitress at one of the gogos opposite Kitten Club went with me one night and the price was "up to me", but not less than 1000. Beer bars should also be well below 2k.

Yeah, that's a bit of pot luck .. if you choose to take a drunk girl, thinking she'll be nice & wild, but then turns out to be too drunk .. you can't give her *all* the blame .. ;-) Let her sleep it off and get your money's worth in the morning ;-)

Yes! The weekend turned out splendidly. A non-bar-girl overnight for 2k (she was taking me around on her motorbike, bought snacks for us, very lovely), and two more in Soi 6 for 700 each. This time no hint of bargaining or rushing. It seems like there's an influx of girls from Korat now.

Oh, another first this weekend -- as I was leaving a gogo on Soi Diamond, an indian guy was refused entry ("members only! members only!"). He was looking a mite unkempt and had obviously had a few drinks, but I don't know whether that was the deciding factor.

A sure sign that low season is finally nearing its end was Happy a-go-go last night jumping with action, both on and off the stage. Bucket after bucket of ping pong balls were raining down upon the girls from one side of the bar, while huge flurries of 20 baht notes were fluttering to the floor on the other. One guy was buying 1000 baht buckets of balls, one after the other, and emptying them all at once in all directions. Another group was exchanging wads of 1000 baht notes for stacks of 20’s, which were tossed immediately into the air.

As you can imagine, the scene was pandemonium, the girls giddy with greed. Dancers, show girls, and hostesses alike were stampeding back and forth across the bar in waves, trampling over patrons and each other for their share of the bonanza. All standards of dignity, decency, and decorum were cast aside as the lovely ladies scrambled around hands and knees on the floor like a pack of feral dogs, diving under tables and reaching between customers’ legs for the treasure, their naked tits and asses jiggling about in glorious view for the crowd.

This year has been one of the worst(quality of meat and bargains) and shortest lasting low seasons I've seen in years.

Actual information from today: The "yellow" Ayutthaya-Bank in South Pattaya road near friendship supermarket still DON'T charge the 150 Bath fee !

August seemed a bit quiet, but things bounced back this month, just the time they usually quiet down. One theory was that a lot of budget travelers waited till then to take advantage of low air fares.

For better or worse, Pattaya is becoming a year-round destination . . . .

Of course, what you forget about the ATM fee is that with the lower rate that Ayutaya Bank gives (no 150B fee), you would be better off for withdrawals of say 20,000 B to PAY the 150B

I just go into Siam Commercial and make a withdrawal from the debit card with the passport as ID (no 150B fee, either)

Doing an apples to apples comparison - I got 10,000B from Ayu Bank in August for $306.75 (or 20,000 for 613.50) The next day I went to a Bangkok bank ATM and got 20,000 for 598.60 INCLUDING THE 150B withdrawal fee) Net ADDITIONAL COST to use Ayu Bank's ATM was $7.50 for the 10,000 I withdrew.

That is NOT an apples to apples comparison. More arseholes to bollocks!

You withdrew money on 2 different days. Everyone knows the exchange rate is never the same the next day, and invariably changes many times during just one day!

Here's a brief account of my short trip to Pattaya. Since I had only 4 nights to spend in Pattaya, I wanted to make best use of my time and for the same reason, I decided to stick to the bars that were known not to discriminate against us Indians.

Day 1

I arrived at Pattaya at around 2 pm and checked in at The Pattaya Bay Resort. After some rest I headed out to Beach road/walking street to explore the area. At around 7:30pm I head to Secrets. I enter and the only vacant place I could find was near the billing counter. I ordered a drink for myself and a couple of minutes later, the mamasam Joy comes to me and asks me if I'd like some company? Well, how could I refuse? She waves to this lady sitting a few tables across who walks over. Her name is Nok and she is an evening hostess. I buy a drink for her and after some chit chat, she asks me if I'd like to play some board games. Well, why notand I made a deal to her. She gets a drink if she wins and I get a kiss if I won. After several turns nobody was winning and Joy joins the fun. This time the deal with Joy is the loser buys the winner a drink. Still after several turns nobody is winning and it was getting boring so I order the drinks for everyone anyways. Same story after few more turns and I order yet another round of drinks for everyone. Couple of more drinks later I finally won and sure enough, I get a lovely kiss and Joy buys me a shot of tequila. I was pretty comfortable with Nok by this time as asked her if she would like to go to my hotel long time. She nodded and I paid the barfine. Total damage about 1800 baht. We were both hungry and we picked up some street side bbq on our way. We had the bbq at my hotel and watched some tv arms in arms on the bed. Nok turned the tv off and what followed was a great session. She does have a way with her mouth smile. Gif courtesy of the "chocolate blow job" at Secrets I suppose (more on that later). Anyways, I was completely exhausted after the session and we just lay on the bed. At around 2am Nok gets a call on her phone. It was her friend. Nok asked me if she could go dance with her friend who also works at Secrets but had not been barfined that day. I thought this must me the long time. Short time bait and switch routine at play here. I wasn't particularly happy, but I had no intentions of keeping a lady against her wish and so told her she could go if she wanted to. She gave me a hug and started to dress. I asked her about money but she declined saying she would collect it when she returns. Hearing this, my angst completely disappeared and now I was totally ok with her going out. She had done her job in making me happy to the point I was completely exhausted and if she wanted to have some fun so be it! Anyways, she fumbles a bit in her purse and said maybe she would take some money after all. AHA! So this is the twist in the story and maybe It was the bait and switch after all. I give her money and she headed to the door.

"Arent you going to take your stuff with you? "

"No, I'll take it later after I come back"

Now I was really embarrassed for misjudging her twice. Sad. Gif Anyways, off she goes and I go to sleep. Sure enough, she returned after a couple of hours, all charged up and excited. What followed was a mind blowing session. I was so glad her friend made the call! We woke up at around noon, had lunch at McDonalds and we headed separate ways.

What a night it had been!

Well bum - all I can say is that the actual RATE of exchange was stated on the Ayu Bank kiosk before the withdrawal. I have my bank statement to verify the withdrawal charge against and actually took out money TWICE from Ayu Bnak with the identical amount charged against the account only varying in the "cents".

IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT ABOUT $12 DIFFERENCE (remember - I took out half as much and multiplied the amount of the withdrawal X2). I got the international exchange rate from the "other" banks - NOT THE INFLATED RATE FROM AYU BANK (which cost about 0.5% MORE) Believe it or not as you wish. ATM withdrawals from Ayu Bank COST MORE THAN THE FEE FROM OTHERS for amounts exceeding about 5000B (I don't care to bother doing the math right now)

AYUTTHAYA BANK CHARGES MORE THAN THE OTHERS AND YOU PAY FOR THE "SERVICE" IN THE INFLATED RATE EVEN IF THERE IS NO "ATM FEE".

Like I said before - take your card and go into the bank during normal working hours and avoid the withdrawal fee entirely It's YOUR money and you can waste it if you so desire. It makes no difference to ME whatsoever.

The alternative is to make withdrawals of the maximum amount possible (20,000B is the max I've seen allowed) and minimize the effect of the fee.
