As for the answers, some things are mysterious. Maybe the option of working in the daytime suits them better? Maybe 700 baht /20 min deal with an average Thai punter suits them better than 1000-2000 for a tedious hour with a Farang or Arab with their foreign language and unpredictable sexual demands? Maybe the neighborhood suits them better? Many things are unexplained in that murky world.

Comparing 500-700 with 1000-2000 is not comparing like with like because of the time differences you state. Chinatown girls hang out directly outside ST rooms and could earn more in a night with several customers than a Sukhumvit girl could with a smaller number.

TBH I'm surprised someone with the experience of Syzygies doesn't know more about this. It's very well known in Bangkok (among Thais), as is Lumpini Park and Sanam Luang which have similar street walkers for a similar price. Why not just go for a walk in the area if you're sceptical?

I only did the one cutey but had the intention of returning at a later date towards evening but as things worked out I never did, having bumped into a cutey I had balled several years back and with my limited time in Bangkok had to leave unfortunately. Next time will have to wait as I see no reason why I should not return to Matri chit. The roundabout has no name which I find weird, even looked on the maps. We will just have to call it no name roundabout I guess.

Of course its well known. I have read plenty of reports. However it's a few years since I had time to go looking in Chinatown and I have never actually checked out Lumpini despite it being closer. It was reported to have certain dangers of rip off girls there. Never tried Sanam Luang either as most reported desperate types there. I would be concerned about possible levels of various STDs as well.

It is possibly too far away from home for me to realistically use Chinatown as a place to monger. Would waste too much time to get there and back. Was quite an effort to even check out soapies Sao Botan (a bit closer) and Ida on Rama III. I would use MRT to get there going to Hua Lamphong station. I see with Google virtual street walk, that "The Cleopatra" is still there.

I will try to go get there some time to calibrate my idea of cuties with that of others. One problem for me is my idea of ST is a minimum of 60 minutes. I can't do 20 minute quickies.

I have been surprised by reasonable looks of some Nana street walkers recently. Better than previous years. So I guess improvement is always possible everywhere.

However, if you need 60 minutes I would skip this area completely. The modus operandi of the girls is to get you off as quickly as possible, so you would have to negotiate if you have different needs. And the girls expect payment up front as soon as you enter the room.

I suppose when you walk past 30 old dragons and fatties and then see a couple of 20-somethings who are not overweight then they look like cuties. But then the clothes come off and the tits are hanging there and the stomach looks like a spider's web. There are usually a handful of girls who have quite pretty faces though. Based on what I have heard from others, you probably were lucky you were only on that list, likely one designating "suspected sex tourists," for a bit more than a year. I would guess though that you had already been placed on the list as soon as you left customs and your complaint may not have affected that. But maybe you have some information about that that I would not.

When did this take place Pogostick? I ask because I have the impression customs has become less aggressive in tormenting single men (or men traveling alone) when they return from Asia than they were in the past. I suspect this might reflect both changes in the administration (not to get overly political, but my sense is customs was more aggressive about this sort of thing during the Bush years), and also the futility of what they were doing. Harassing men returning from Asia was supposed to yield all sorts of prosecutions for men having sex with minors (based on inspections of computers, camera memories, and so forth) but there were very very few successful prosecutions of this sort.

Irrespective though of whether customs has reined in their rabid "what were you doing in Asia" dogs, it still seems prudent to travel in such a way that a customs inspection is not going to lead to an interrogation.

I used to stay near / in Chinatown last year. There was a Chinese restaurant (a real dive with rats running around inside) open until 7 AM. All these Chinese hookers would dine at it after work. They looked kind of like average-bellow average club girls, not my type and not really do-able for me. No stunners or anything like that, but no hideous freaks or anything. They all looked really skinny or homely for 20 somethings.

Overall there isn't much in the looks department from what I casually observed.

All these unused condoms . . . haven't been used for being naughty, don't you think? So actually someone returning with NO condoms left should be thoroughly examined!
