There are new bars opening, or being refurbished and reopening pretty much everywhere in Patong and Rawai / Chalong.
Many many many people are putting their money, or their sponsors money, into opening / reopening in places where there is some semblance of permanent life ticking over. The green shoots so to speak. And that also includes quite a bit in Phuket Town.
What isn't being opened or having any money spent on it in comparison is Karon, and the northern end of Kata.
They are still very much a ghost town strip, complete with the picture of derelict buildings and overgrown weeds and even jungle creepers.
A very very very sad sight still.
I'm in Pattaya now and I took a walk down walking street. Lots of construction noise behind closed doors, so I think things are happening. I'm wondering what will happen to the smaller places, but I guess we'll see. I'll be happy if they aren't bought up by Chinese and turned into something awful.
I have already seen two girls and have one scheduled every day this week, so we'll see what happens. So far, so good. Had two excellent experiences so far. I have been going back and forth between Cartagena and Medellin for the past two months. Good lawd. Medellin and Cartagena are definitely "Back to Normal" in a sense. One can screw a chica (pro or non-pro) will little effort. And the TLNs are cheap as hell (never paid more than $90) these days.

Many of those hedonists after partaking in the delights of the Latin flesh will not return to Thailand after they experience what they would have been missing all these years. Personally, I prefer Latin American women, they provide much better service than Asian women but I do appreciate the safety of Thailand. I do travel to Tijuana, but I'm always worried and I keep my head on a swivel. I assume service in South America is much better than Tijuana. I tend to favor the physical appearance and more demure personalities of Asian girls. After things are full open, I'll continue to spend the extra hours in flight and get to Asia.

I have made numerous trips to those countries over several decades banging several hundreds of women and had only two incidents to talk about which are when some blokes tried to grab my phone out of my hand while walking on a street in broad daylight and another when I was sitting on a park bench and a beggar girl cuffed me in my face when I refused to give what she asked for. Both occurred in Medellin, Colombia and in hindsight I could have avoided them by firstly not walking with my phone in hand and secondly getting up from the bench when the girl sat next to me.
I have had way more experience in Latin America than SEA but I do think I'll use the covid interlude to switch my base from LA to SEA, particularly Thailand, when the pandemic subsides. OK, My plan is to see 2-3 girls a week while I'm in Pattaya. I can't really afford more than that.
