A good cleaning lady is priceless
Much as I might like that, I can think of how that does not work out well for our hero.
I mean, she has access to my stuff, and she is one of the usual suspects.
I have computers, documents, money.
Once you start ... a woman, she steals. Civilization calls it marriage some times.
You can always get another girl to bang, but a good maid is priceless.
Does anyone remember the Seinfeld episode, where he starts sleeping with her maid, who stops cleaning but still expects to be paid. Then the question arises, exactly what is her paying he for? He fires her and she breaks up with him at the same time.
Dementia tourism in mongering spots

This applies to our profession, indeed, some of us may be demented.
Haha.
My eulogy.
When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains.
And the women come out to cut up what remains.
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains.
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier..
In about 40 days I'm at a crossroads
The family house will be sold (where I live). So the decision is either:
Find something here (not hard but expensive).
Hang out overseas until I can get into one of the various Gov housing programs (HUD, FHA, USDA, etc).
Or make a clean break. I have a Visa it's ironic I got it in 2016 and even paid extra for expedited service and now I don't even need it.
5:1 exchange is better than when I went in 2016.
I would be starting from scratch though I do have some English speaking friends I can hang out with. I found out about Tinder too late while I was down there and of course even though Tinder has opened up profiles to everybody, everywhere, the women won't talk to you (at least not to me) because I'm not in country.
Budget would be roughly what would get with UI since I can apply anytime under the original CARE Act rules which means no work or job search requirement and I'm 1099.
That runs out late August at least the extra weekly amount but that's likely to get extended who knows.
Seems like it's a good time to head to Brazil, thoughts?
Brazil, Bust, or Blue Balls? COVID or Consequences?

Seems like it's a good time to head to Brazil, thoughts?
Wow! Dude, there's a lot to unpack with your given situation, as you present quite a few personal intangibles, so it's difficult to grasp the answers in a straight forward direct way.
. . . Still, if you're you fully vaccinated, I'd pull the trigger even though it's still risky, supposedly. You can rent a simple room / apartment in Barra or Centro for $20-25 a day . . .
Things are supposedly trending in the right direction, though, so who knows where we're going to be in a few weeks.
Can't add much more to Xpartan's good advice, but I'll just put it this way. "I think it all comes down to knowing oneself". For example:
A) Is this a risk for me?
B) Can I manage and/or mitigate risk well?
C) Can I really afford this excursion/risk?
D) Do I manage my budget well?
E) Do women / pussy get the better of me and my wallet?
F) I'm I doing this come hell or high water or should I wait?
G) In these COVID times, have I put in place a contingency plan/budget, if the proverbial shit hits the fan?
H) Have I weighed the Pros and Cons?
After self-answering some of these questions and it's still a go, I would just plan your budget to meet your appropriate time frame for staying in Brazil and then add like maybe 20-30% extra for unexpected COVID travel type contingencies. But, as you say, you do have "English speaking friends I can hang out with", providing they come through for you.
Yes, with the exchange rate 5:1 and maybe close to 6:1 in some exchange shops, it certainly does present a very salacious and enticing dilemma.
I think many MBs here are ferociously considering, your very same predicament. "Blue balls" and COVID-19 be damned...kkkk!
Looking forward to those field reports...maybe! Good Luck!
