Pete[/QUOTE]Pete, thanks. This is of course my experience, but if you plan to visit Ghana, you could also visit Takoradi, Kumasi and Suniyani besides Accra. There are daily flights to inland Ghana forabout 6-80 US dollars each way. If you take the bus, it will be 3-4 hrs and 5-6 Cedis each way.

In Accra, in the Mall (there is only one Mall and is near the airport) you will see girls coming continuously to flirt and ideally find a foreigner. My (wise) words to you is the girls in the Mall were sleepers (I am talking about sleepers and not real sandals) that costs 40-60 cedis while a gir in a normal neighborhood will wear a sleeper costing 1- 1.5 Cedis. Who do you thing will become a bigger expense for you to 'maintain'?

My experience is that normal Ghanian girls specially if you chat someone on a street or in the market are a bit modest and shy, but this is Africa and fuck is fuck. You only have to treat them nicely and with respect. BTW there are scammers. And as much as I hate to say that, avoid Nigerians.

If you don't feel like chatting up girls on the go, then prepare a good list with girls from AfroIntroductions. For me that has been the best site for Ghana.

The alternative to Ghana might be Gambia. There almost (sorry but this is my experience) you can fuck anyone. In a week I have my 2 chamber mades and a few female security guards. Of course with pay or gifts. I never left the hotel for sex- just for food. But Ghanians are 1000 times more pleasant than Gambians, Accra is very safe and people do not tend to steal or pick pocket you as it has been my experience with the Gambia.

I am thinking now to try Uganda and / or Cameroon.

I've only traveled the coastline out to Cape Coast (by bus) and it's nice to hear the flights within Ghana are not as bad as international fare in Africa which can be twice as much for comparable distances easy, at least compared to the US. My last trip to Accra was similar to I guess your Gambian, a few brief trips to clubs, restaurants etc but otherwise holed up in one hotel suite knocking down one after the other off of AI.

The names exist in their urban planning, GoogleMaps got them, but most streets don't have their names.

How people get their post? Well. Usually they don't need. Any for example, they do not get an electricity utility bill for their home. What they do, they buy electricity units like you buy time phone credit for a prepaid sim card and they charge the electricity meter with the electricity credit code they boughtIn some things they are very advanced technologically.

If they need their post, well. They need to find the postman who lunches at a given place or pick it up from a designated store.

Most taxi drives in Accra are unaware of street names.

1. No hot water.

2. No wifi or reliable connection

3. Short power shortages.

Maybe you should invest the 20-25 dollars to get a local wifi dongle.

Rents for locals are 300- 500 Cedis for an apartment in Accra. I found some on internet for 50-100 dollars per night but locations were not to my liking. There are sings on streets for apartment rentals so may I suggest that you ask a local to get those numbers for you?

Basic hotel prices with bathroom in your room range between 50 and 60 cedis per night: examples are Hansonic and Fairview Hotels, including breakfast for only 1 person. That said, my recent stay with no breakfast was 30 Cedis per night but not an easy location for first time visitors.

If you plan to be there before October a room with a fan will do. Air conditioning might be an overkill.

That way, you just charge it up, insert SIM (after purchasing and loading Internet bundles) , and connect to Internet. Never again will I rely on public wifi when I travel. Just remember that only the most upscale hotels have backup generators. Others may or may not have, and if they do, they only run them on limited basis. So you are working on an important online interface or putting the finishing touches on a 7 paragraph trip brief when the power goes out and stays off for an hour or so. I can imagine the foul words you are muttering if you fail to save that post in a MS Word document! No such worries when you have your own secure mobile hotspot.

Avoid internet cafes, it's an excellent recipe for identity theft by the owner or one of the Nigerian patrons.

As I mentioned in my previous post, you can get a TiGo dongle for around 50 Cedis (less than 25 US dollars not 70 as mentioned).

I usually have my international vaccinations booklet in my suitcase. This time I had it with my passport. It was excellent luck because they went thoroughly to examine valid yellow fever stamps and they stopped 2 guys from entering the country.

Don't think that Lapaz is great for women either, so I'd just pay more and stay in town.

I am seriously tempted for a weekend day or evening visit even though I have my own place in Accra near the Mall. I have three regular GFs who come to visit me on weekdays (well nights actually) , so I am a happy old devil but I find that I am running out of excuses for not letting them stay at the weekend. I enjoy time off at weekends to be by myself as well as having the freedom to go hunting and then banging a different lady once in a while. Nothing wrong with a bit of variety.

I now fancy a trip out to Lapaz and having the pick of the local ladies without central Accra prices.

Sometime at weekends I visit one of my 3 GFs further along the road from Lapaz at her place in Wiega (well mine I suppose since I paid the 24 months rent). Attached are some shots of my Liberian lovely in her bedroom & her extensive shoe collection.

Not often to find such a slim, tall lady with such a cute face in Accra. The only ones I have seen with those attributes are from other countries in Africa. Most of the local ladies here are very rounded with larger asses. If that is your taste, you will be in heaven in Ghana. But for those of us who like the slimmer version, harder to find.
