Medellin Reports

Hi Rwaters,

I was just in Medellin over Christmas. I stayed at the Mansion for 3 days / nights and 2 days / nights at San Pieters Apartment. I am surprised that it filled up so quickly in just 1 day. There were only 4 guest staying there when I went but that's probably due to Christmas. Here is my take on the Mansion. It's small and nothing like the Del Rey in Costa Rica. There is a small bar next door and it was open on my first night. There was about 6-7 girls there and I picked up 1 that night. She was fun and OK, but nothing to write home about. Then they closed the bar until after Christmas, so it was basically empty and I had to go out hunting. Parque Lleras is about a 20 minute walk from the Mansion. That's where I met the best girl of my whole Medellin trip. I also did 2 prepagos that I found on the internet. One thing to keep in mind is that if you pay in cash / pesos when you check out, it's a lot cheaper. They charge you 20 percent more if you pay by credit card. So I paid in pesos.

About your questions below, the best way to get to the Mansion from the airport is by taxi. They can set up a taxi to pick you up at the airport. They did it for me and it cost 85 K pesos. You could try Uber or getting a taxi there, but I arrived really late at night and did not feel like waiting around for an Uber or looking for a taxi. The guy was there holding a sign with my name on it, so it was great.

Money conversion: I find that the best place to get the best conversion rate near the Mansion is at Santa Fe Mall. It's a huge mall, American style, and really nice. They even have a food court on the top floor. There are 2 cambio on the bottom floor, and both have roughly the same rate. You can walk to Santa Fe Mall from the Mansion in like 10 minutes. Just go down the hill to the main road, Carrera 43 A, and turn left. Walk about 10 minutes and it will be on the left side, you can't miss it.

However, this stuff does happen. It happens in the US and all over the world. It happens online as well as in person. I've known guys who have fallen prey to it, many places and many ways.

Some guys get into party mode and lose connection with everything. Eventually it either kills them, or they wake up with a really bad hangover.

You've probably had nights where you've spent $500-$1,000 in Gusto. It's not uncommon. I watched a guy run up a $750 tab in there one night, which meant I was in there until closing and didn't spend a single peso. If you spent that type of money just twice a week, plus lodging, food, drugs, girls, you would easily hit $50 k in 5 months.

You can just email the Mansion to arrange it. Just give them your date flight # & time of arrival. They will then send a driver to pick you up, just look for a guy holding up your name. The rate is similar, I think now around 85 Kp. The best way to get pesos is to use a ATM machine for the best rates. Cash exchanges will yield around 5% less. They have cash exchanges and ATM's all around the Mansion area, just walk down the hill, Plenty at Oviedo Mall (down the hill to your left across the street.) Get an ATM card that has no fees such as the Schwab card.

I tried telling my ex fiance about imarketslive, which is huge in South America. I saw one of these spots advertising 200% annual gains trading currencies and saw how they were scamming people. I tried telling her it was a zero sum game / gambling and she said I didn't understand.

I was like why would you want to trade currencies versus invest in the USA Markets where, if you invest in the whole market long term, you never lose. She would not respond, and I realized that is because most South American countries have seen their stock markets crater if not go to zero. They are used to short term thinking.

I was actually going to show her the scam. You go long X in account 1 and make 100% and go short X in account 2 and lose 100%. You throw account 2 in the trash, and you repeat this process month after month and show the suckers only your accounts where you make 100% a month and leave out the accounts where you lose 100%. Then you come up with some technical BS pattern to justify your gains. If you could not use a common one, I would have just made up my own. "That is the jedi mind trick pattern. You always go long that. ".

You then tell the mark that if you invest just $100 and get the 100% gains every month, in 14 months, you will be a millionaire! I would show them the math. "Look at my results! They don't lie. I can teach you how to do this. " Then milk the crap out of them via commissions and being higher on the pyramid and berate them for not following the BS technical analysis patterns when they lose their azzez.

I gave up. I was going to tell her the scam IML was doing but I figured the be--ch would not believe me or worse try it on her own and rip people off. I never have thought that South Americans were less intelligent than North Americans, but this was one area I saw a huge difference. I know there are people who drink the koolaid in the USA, but I was shocked at how many otherwise intelligent South Americans have bought into these MLM scams.

You can always take of few puffs to add to the sensation and lots of the girls smoke too but still be careful. Tried searching but nothing so far so I'll ask here. Fellas, I always fly COPA and love them but now prices for my flight would be $750 When I usually pay 350 to 450. So now I'm considering Spirit. One stop with connection in FLL. I know there's hidden fees but I'm having a tough time figuring it out on their website.

How's their service and on time record and how much much will hidden fees cost or just keep it short and tell me yes or no to use them. I'm also tall so how's seats? Maybe paying $750 is worth it considering everything.

Hopefully COPA comes down but doesn't look like it at this time. More reasonable flights to SJO but I made the switch to MDE a few years ago and don't want to go backwards. MDE is my getaway now.
