No problem X. The last time I stayed at the Europhil, Clinton was still in the White House. In fact apart from a couple of short visits (and departing from the airport), I have not been to AC since. Place is too full of bad vibes with far too many scammers, runners and cherry girls for my liking. Keep meaning to make the trip down for a few days, but everytime I decide, I read a negative report here, and shelve my trip. 1000 a day thank you money sounds about right for a bar girl. My own style is to give the girl (regardless of occupation) some money for OUR various expenses. I do not want to bang my head against the wall dealing with Filipinos about money -- so my Fil friend should take care of that. If questioned,about why the money, I would say, "If I lose my wallet, then we still have money!"

I apologize if this is explicit on the threads, but it's sort of a multi-part question.

First, generally when I travel to Thailand I bring cash, travellers checks, and also a couple of credit cards. I've yet to use my ATM card there, but I'm sure it would work.

In the Phils, I've read that travellers checks aren't accepted as readily. I'm always nervous about using my ATM card and relying solely on it. And actually haven't used it in a foreign country yet. So.

Shall I bring cash and travellers checks with ATM card as backup (assuming it will work). Or

Just cash and either no or limited traveller checks. (bring ATM, also).

Or. Any other ideas? What do you folks generally do?
