You have no idea how different things would be if you had them. Yes, the translator helps, but has serious limits, especially when things aren't going well, etc. When your in the room with a girl. I'm sure you had some issues with some of the FB girls at times. I struggle learning Spanish, and the more I learn, the more I realize how much easier it is to navigate here. I know other Spanish speaking posters can attest to what I am trying to convey here. It's true that people can get by without speaking the language. They can have the best time they could imagine without learning any Spanish.

Learning any of the language opens up new experiences. The more you learn, the better. Doesn't mean it's necessary, just beneficial.

In a few years we'll have seamless, instantaneous translation. Then the "I don't need to know the language" guys will discover what they've been missing.
