I am hearing that certain parts of Pattaya are booming, lots of customers in TreeTown, Soi Buakhow, and some other bars. It possible that High Season will come now, because of Test and Go allowing more tourists to come to Thailand.
Well I am not so sure about that, looks can be deceiving. Oh lots of girls in the bars but when you walk in you realize your the only guy in the bar, hard to make profits this way. Now I'm not sure how these girls get paid, every month? That's a long way to go without a paycheck. They depend on being barfined and making a bit of extra cash to hold them over. Problem is these bars aren't making all that much money and want to keep their good looking girls at the bar to pull in the guys walking along the road. How do they do that? By charging 1500 for a barfine, sometimes 1000 but its normally a good amount of cash. Man I remember the old days of finding a gem on a side street and the barfine was 300 baht. These high barfines are out of control.
There's a problem with the current test & go where you have to return to a quarantine hotel on day 5 for another pcr test. That's too much for me, while I did test & go at the end of December the day 5 test was not required. So my next trip will be to Germany and I will see how things are for June.
Have to agree, my buddy is in the process of filling out his trip for March and is having issues already. I read an article that said the Thai insurance companies are losing money hand over fist with these covid policies and when my buddy clicked on their policies he couldn't get one to complete the purchase and charge his credit card. He did book a SHA hotel for 5 days with the thinking he wouldn't have to pack up and leave the hotel. Not sure if this will work or not.
So I'm staying out in Jomtien, I like the laid back atmosphere here and since the gogo's aren't letting their girls dance and soi 6 is a shell of itself I figure I'm not missing much. I did make it out to Viper Bar, a new gogo in Jomtien and was sadly unimpressed. You'd think a new gogo would go out of their way to hire in some lookers at least for a few weeks, instead it was filled with very average looking girls too desperate for lady drinks. The plus side is the beer I bought and the ladydrink I bought for one of the few 'ok lookers' only cost me 240 baht. Won't be heading back there again.
Today I decided to see just where the baht buses on Jomtien Beach road actually ran. Climbed in one and it went down and down, turned left up past the Viper Bar and kept going another block until it turned left. Didn't stop until I hit the buzzer to get off at soi 6. Best 10 baht I've ever spent. So I'm walking down soi 6 and it seems like more bars are opening but maybe only a few guys in each bar. Made my way to Playpen which seemed to have a good amount of girls and there was only 2 guys in the place when I got there. Girls were having a fun time dancing to the music so I stuck around and gave one of the girls a covid injection just to help out the Thai economy. A good two hours had gone by when I decided to call it an early night, decided to take the baht bus down beach road and see what there was to see. The beach road girls are out again, not in numbers but a good 30 or so from soi 6 to walking street. Talent was mostly the dregs unfortunately. On the bar side there were a few bars spread out with a ton of girls but again not too many guys. Made my way to WS and hit the buzzer to get out and walked up the road a ways to catch another baht bus back to Jomtien. One came by 10 minutes later and took me almost to the door of my condo. Not a bad roundtrip for 30 baht.

There aren't many.
Sure the big popular bars have a few. But that's all Folks. This was pre the Situation.

Something new this year: I am seeing Thai men coming into bars as customers, which used to be rare.
Before Covid, if a Thai man delivering beer came into a bar, the ladies inside would cover up, out of fear that the delivery guy might know their boyfriend and tell him what was going on inside the bar. Some bars had male security or management, but the girls knew them.
Now I am seeing Thai men hanging out in bars as customers. This will not end well.

I wonder if the girls in these "new normal" former go-go bars turned beer bars and former beer bars turned restaurants have actually convinced Thai guys they really are just drink and food venues now, there are no barfines, they are really only "hostesses" who hustle Ladydrinks from farangs and never fuck them. Can meet them after 11 pm, no problem.
Which, in the case of some of the better looking girls in some of these places, is pretty much the truth. Again, talking about some "new normal" Bangkok bar areas. Maybe similar to what is happening in Pattaya.

Not sure if this will work or not.
It did work the last time, what happened was on day 1 I was in a Test & Go room, the rules are that the whole floor is locked down and you could not leave nor have visitors. Once I got my negative PCR result then I was able to switch to a regular room on another floor, so your friend will probably have to do the same on both days.

So what do these guys that drop their girlfriends off at your place assume you are doing; teaching them to do hair?

The reality is that the boyfriends know why ladies work in Pattaya, but the ladies save face by saying that they don't go with customers. They believe the boyfriend doesn't know. If the boyfriend is told by a friend what is going on in the bar, he loses face.
Losing face in Thailand is bad.

Maybe I am worrying about nothing, but if Thai men are allowed free access into bars in Pattaya, it's only a matter of time before the boyfriend of a bargirl who decided to make me happy walks into the bar and decides it's his day to make the front page of the Pattaya News.

One of the waitress's BF would come in and order a cup of coffee and sit there all day long watching her. The owner told the waitress her BF can't come in any more while she works. She either didn't tell the BF or the BF didn't care and came in anyway. He fired her before he started any trouble.
I am sure the bars know how to keep bfs out. Might have to fire the bargirl. I can remember seeing tons of bargirls getting dropped off by their BF on motorbikes in from of Nana Plaza and getting picked up at quitting time.

Imagine trying to get a BJ in a bar with the lady's boyfriend sitting a few rows away.

Some Pattaya gogo bars like Teerak allowed Thai men in pre-COVID. Thai men were allowed in to gogo bars as soon as the pandemic began in early 2020. With no Japanese and Korean someone has to pay the bills. Thai men are good customers because they drink a lot.
I just really enjoy the atmosphere and loud dance music in gogo bars. Others don't. I'm going to a gogo bar as entertainment and to kill time. I'm not rich and I'm pretty cheap but buying a gogo girl a lady drink here or there doesn't bother me as long as I get a heck of a lot of entertainment value for my money. Like Horatio I like to assess the fun factor in a girl before taking her. I will never walk in to a bar and barfine a girl the first night. No need to if you live in Pattaya. Get to know the go and go with her on her day off. Mr. E is correct you can do this without buying drinks too although it's tougher in a gogo bar than a beer bar for new girls who don't know you. A half decent looking gogo girls who doesn't know you won't sit around an hour to talk unless she sees you are popular with other girls. I used to easily justify lady drinks in a gogo bar when they were 80 or 100 baht but now they are 160 to 220 baht. I now cringe if my bar tab is over 2000 baht and that's even if I'm in a gogo bar for hours and have 5 girls with me. I'd rather buy myself a drink and tip the 5 girls 100 baht each. Much cheaper that way. If girls still want drinks over my tip I send them away to another customer to get a drink and they return within 15 minutes. I treat it like a game. I am not hurt if one of the girls I'm with goes elsewhere for a drink or gets barfined. Everyone is replaceable and if there are no girls at that gogo bar for the night there are over 1000 other bars in Pattaya I can go to..
Don't the girls have drink quotas? Bigger problem is mamasan / manager. I can't imagine any mamasan worth a dime letting one of her girls sit with a customer without a lady drink in front of her. Otherwise, I like your plan, would cut down on those 2000 baht bar bills.

Secondly, the boyfriend may not mind. Or he may mind, with lethal consequences. Do you feel lucky today?
