Leaving tip in the money folder is a tip to shared among the staff, assuming boss is honest and doesn't take it. This applies to other countries as well, not just a Thai thing. Certainly Thai restaurants in other countries and other places non Thai.

In Thailand, if you intend a tip for a specific person it has to be cash put in the hand and usually done without showing everyone what it is or how much. Sometimes guys tip a dancing girl by putting money in her garter or bra if she has one. No need to be shy about that.

I never give a tip on credit card (e. G. In a Thai restaurant OS) as this will likely be taken by the owner and not given to staff. USA maybe different. I don't live there. Different circumstances call for a different approach, but for me the circumstances generally fall into one of these 3. And in all cases it is assumed I am attracted to the girl enough to want to be with her, not just responding to any girl approaching me:

1.
