Bill before test takes place (I guess they wanted to make sure you have the money) I have been told consult would be 1000-2000 Baht and I thought that is equivalent to gap payment back home so no dramas. Bill came after test 7500 Baht 312 AUD, far out. I didn't want to look like a dick so, I paid and biopsy was done. Some antibiotics cream after settlement (I got back 150 Baht!

All in all the hospital and Service are five stars. However I found it to be a tad expensive especially with no travel insurance. They seem to cater for lots of Arabs (Arabic language signs are everywhere beside Thai and English) maybe that is why!

I work close to the medical field and aware of the guidelines and biopsy is not recommended in my case as cryotherapy is more common; that is why I felt the Dr want to do it for hospital profit. I felt ripped off in a way.

I am not too sure how much a full STI screen would cost but I would be really interested to know.

What I found interesting that they don't give you a script for your medication but rather they send it electronically to the in-patient pharmacy. I guess to keep all money in house but once again it could be a good thing for you if you have insurance, this way you claim once.

They don't want you to buy your medicine at a fraction of the cost somewhere else. Any private hospital can charge a fortune (unwarranted) even for Thais. I use Sukhumvit Hospital at Ekkamai.

This is common practice at private hospitals. Medicines at the in-house pharmacy tend to cost 2-5 times the equivalent generics at an outside one.

You can always ask for a prescription / list of medicines (either ask the doctor, or if they already sent it down, ask the pharmacist) and purchase outside. It's your right, and in my experience they always comply, politely and without any issue. Obviously, they won't be advertising that you can do this, since they stand to gain a fair bit of money if you're unaware.

The only exception is a handful of restricted medications (like Xanax), which you can only legally obtain at hospitals, not regular pharmacies. It's a fairly brief list, and the doctor should warn you about these.

Later found out was Ibuprofen. Ha Ha. Have that at home already. Mostly Thais do not known what medication they are taking. In the past 2 years, they have all gone completely profit. I was charged 23,000 baht for routine bloodwork and a sinus infection. They also intentionally withheld information about how / why / what I was sick with (I had to learn about why I was sick later, and they withhold test results until you pay their crazy price). I went to a better hospital and was treated at a price of 2000 baht.

You could add that the manager seems to know best and doesn't want to know what the customer thinks.

Causes can be corruption, nepotism, arrogance. Etc.

1. Simply bad management possibly contributed to by having a DJ that does not choose really music good to dance to. Girls not making eye contact is only a problem in your mind.
