As you all know there are a lot of clubs in Lima and the situation changes rapidly.

Here is some current info:

Downtown- Has reopened but is only 1/2 the size.

Phuket- has reopened and is hopping again for the older crowd.

Cafe La Mar- Once Lima's hot restuarant/disco has been closed due to discrimination.

La Sede- Is currently the new "La Mar" with a real upscale crowd.

Aura- Still the place to be on Sat. nites.

443- has gone downhill

Cala- Better in the summer, still happening on weekends.

Old Pub- Some of the older "Gringo's" have been pulling from there recently.

Tasca- The bloom is off that rose!

Huaringa- Still happening upscale crowd.

I’Ve been home for a month, but I think my report is informative, and hopefully interesting. I was in Peru for three weeks; nearly all of it spent doing regular tourist things: hiking the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, the Amazon rainforest, Lake Titicaca, and Arequipa. I spent two days at the beginning and end of my trip in Lima, but I only had one night to get laid. Two of the best things I learned from this forum: stay at the Maria Luisa hotel in Miraflores, and the easiest place for a newbie to pickup is Tequila Rocks.

Like most tourists I stayed in Miraflores. I found it safe and easy to get around. I didn’t find much interest from the local girls – I was ignored just like I am at home. I walked through Park Kennedy on a Friday night and two Saturday nights, and found nothing going on. This was between ten and midnight. There were a lot of locals, and tourists, and police. But I didn’t see any working girls. Perhaps I was walking too fast, or I had to sit at a bench? Nada. I was approached on the street near Calle Pizza, but she was an older (30+) woman. No thanks. Without Tequila Rocks it would have been a one-hander in my hotel room.

I am in Lima now and so far echo your report. I travel to Thailand at least 8 times a year and also echo those sediments. I have a week to go here in Peru and will see what I can shake up. I will report back.

Can someone give me a fair price from Miraflores to Tracadero and Las Curcadas via taxi? Also, what is far for airport to Miraflores.

Most women in Lima will avoid your glances(even if you are handsome) as it is a very conservative culture as opposed to the selva where the women are more aggressive. Thanks for the short but informative report.

Your experience is not unique. South East Asians are at a disadvantage. They get mistaken for Middle-Eastern/Arabs/Iranians. I am not implying that Middle Easterners etc are bad people but it is hard to fight the perception.

Some suggestions for next time:
-Post your trip dates in advance and hook up with another monger.
-Learn the language. This advice has been repeated throughout this forum.This will enhance your experience.
-If you meet a girl and the experience was average to fair - repeat it. When you meet the same girl a second time, you will be surprised. Loyalty does pay dividends. (This ofcourse assumes you have some attraction towards the girl.)
