Let's see, there's vendors to deal with to make sure they aren't shorting on deliveries, employees to watch to make sure they aren't stealing, facilities to monitor for cleanliness and maintenance issues, scheduling, training, advising and supervising girls, managing personality conflicts between employees, customers to watch, assist, advise or remove, police and other officials to pay off, and a few dozen other things to deal with. Doesn't seem hard at all.

Truth be told when drinks were 80 Baht (2 USD at the time), BF was 400- 500 Baht (10-12.50 USD at the time), and the gal was 1000 Baht (25 USD), then it really didn't matter. Getting a bit of a buzz and getting laid would cost you all of 50 USD. You were paying peanuts so these issues were kind of charming in a way. Now that you are paying way over 100 USD for the privilege, it's not cute at all.
Just FYI, a few years back I had a some STD tests done at the Thai Red Cross on Ratchadamri Rd. You can probably get your STI panel done here very cheaply. Its also completely anonymous if I remember correctly.

Thailand is a prudish country and newbie girls are too fucking shy. Some of the most ugly girls are also the most raunchy and get customers by doing things like eyeing the customer, and dancing with her pussy almost in the customers face. I dislike these girls that are coming on too strong (especially as they are usually ugly). The are a very small number of pretty girls that are not so shy and play up to her customer just a little in a sexy way without being too low class. In some bars I see this is common, Rainbow Bar in Nana is one of them. I do not care if they ask me to buy a new drink for myself, that is their job. I drink a lot but cannot drink with both hands. And it was the first night in TH after a long time, I still had to adapt to the local prices.

Doesn't mean the customer has to agree. I have agreed on occasions if I know where I am going with the girl. A new girl, no way.
Ging has been ripped off by several customers that did not pay for the ST at all. Hence girls get very scared of being ripped off and has become common to request payment in advance. They don't want to fuck for free. I have never paid in advance myself but as I am well known at the bar, it's not a problem. It's standard for mamasans to ask for payment in advance, never mind whether they are blaming the girl or not. I talk to girls first and just give her the barfine to take to mamasan.
