I play dumb for ages but three of them ask me to get out the car and say 20 each or go to station. I bring it down to 10 each.

Couple days later going taxi be again, there is no checkpoint but just before turning onto the same road a police motorbike makes us pull over, I think he was sat waiting for people. I have my passport this time but he wants vaccine certificate so basically they will make up anything for the bribe. I prepared by hiding all my money and only leave 10 in the wallet, he wants 100 k and show him the ten but he says we go bank and get 100 k, I don't carry cards. So he says I will have Euros at my hotel and he will keep my passport while we go to my hotel and get 50 euro and shows me a 50 euro note he said was from someone else. I tell him to just take the 10 I have on me, he takes that and goes.

So I'm not going taxi be again, seems they are trying to catch people going that way.

I have been paying 50 k for the night for girls from bars and brought one girl round during the day from Badoo for 30 k.

LE relais normand basic rooms are now 75 k so I've moved to select hotel, much better location next to galcier and much better rooms with balcony at 82 k. The doors open by card I prefer a key so I can lock it from the inside. Both hotels always want to keep the girls ID.

Getting taxis between bars at night I see the odd street walker about or sometimes in a group, not my thing though.

Don't encourage corruption. If you have certified copy no need to pay. You paid each of them because they ask? Are you serious? So if they are 10 you pay 10 times? Pure BS. Be smarter than these thieves and show them no fear. If you had passport the 2nd time why are you still negotiating? Tell him to f. K off and threaten him to report him to Bianco. There is no need for vaccination proof in Mada. Everybody knows that.

I have been checked by La Police a couple of times but never paid anything.

But I'll land on isle rouge in 5 days.

In fact I paid a couple of times in Senegal. What I refuse to pay silly money. I tip like 1 to 2 euros. I consider it a tip for the poor bugger of police man who sometimes doesn't get paid for months on end and has a family to feed. On top of his meagre salary he has the real chance of getting killed in the line of duty by armed cattle rustlers or bandits. You did well by standing your ground and refuse to pay silly money though. For me I make it a game to sneak past police checkpoints. They are usually at the same spot mostly choke points. I could write a book about bribes.

I think Manson is the best spot though I find some can be rude in there when you turn them down or decline to buy them a drink.

Took 72,000 return cotisse bus to tamatave from tana, I booked a few days in advance took 9 hours.

Stayed at flamboyant hotel 60 k for room with A/Cand balcony, room has seen better days but everything works.

La terrace. Good food, maybe 10 or so girls in the back on a weekday evening. Weekend evening 20 or so in there. They start moving elsewhere close to 11 pm.

Taxi be. Walked down here and it was closed. A girl later told me the police have closed it down.

Queens. This is a walk down the road from la terrace in the other direction to taxi be. On a weekday this was quite empty had about 10-15 girls and a few guys by 11 pm, though no other clubs open apparently. Weekend bit busier but still quite empty, some girls seemed to come for one drink after terrace and move on.

New York New York. Saw only a few of the worse girls from Queens in here and then just locals and tourists. 10 k entry.

Practically nowhere less than 75 k. Rest remains the same. Although some glacier girls want to maximize profits. Case in point donated 60 k. Betsimisiraka girl asked for a 10 k tip on TOP. Ok. Heading to Tamatave on Wednesday. Booked on Cotisse Premium riding in style. I heard of TB in Tamatave being closed already. Said than done, but if you carry a photocopy of your passeport, there isn't much they can do to you. 20 k is the maximum you should pay.

If you want to visit Taxi Be, there is a brand new 3-stars hotels 20 meters away on the same lane. 60€/ night but worth every penny.
