Pattaya is Sosua on steroids. They are basically the same place just Pattaya has better infrastructure. Both are walkable. But Pattaya is a big city. Sosua is not. My trip to Thailand was DFW to MSP 2 hours, MSP to ICN 12.5 hours, ICN to BKK 5 hours. That is 19.5 hours of ass in the seat, engines running flight time. If you add in layovers it is a total travel time of anywhere from 28 - 32 hours. The time change is brutal and you got to turn around and do that again in 10-12 days later? It is the reason it took so me so long to visit Thailand. That flight is no joke. With a ticket price of 900 - 1600 USD (I made the designation because I work in USD, DOP, COP, THB, LTC and BTC) depending upon if you are visiting in High or Low season. Further more shorter flights to the DR aka fantasy island is becoming a HUGE factor as we get older. You don't need to pit Rio against Su, they are 2 different playgrounds. There is no reason why they can't complement each other.

Here is my definitive 0. 6 DP travel guide for folks who aren't already infatuated with either destination. This is not for Sosua veterans who've already grown their harem and don't depend on a street scene.

Brazil.

For those who've never been down there, Brazileras are amazing. An average fuck in Rio is like a success story elsewhere. They won't let you go until they milk you dry. Leche papi doesn't happen in Brazil.

I kid you not. You can tell them it's OK and today's not your day, and it's just not to be (which happens to me more and more often as I age), but they'll make it be.

Every man must go to Brazil, IMHO. Especially if you love to travel and experience things beyond fucking.

But! Do you have at least 10-14 days of travel? Can you handle a really long flight?

From NYC it's a 10-hour nonstop. More often than not, nonstop won't happen, and you'll route via GRU (Sao Paulo). That's 14-18 hours give or take. I wouldn't touch Rio for less than 10 days, and even that is a bit short.

SOSUA.

Sosua is a 3. 5 hours nonstop from NYC. Even with a connecting flight it's 6-7, but I spring for nonstop whenever it's not too crazy.

I can do Sosua for 4-7 days. Easy.

That proximity can be a problem, though, because -- no matter what anyone tells me -- it brings weekend commuters who enjoy throwing money around. It's easy to throw money around when you have to budget for 2-3 days only. I've said it before and caught a lot of flack for it, but whatever. The current market conditions in Sosua are directly caused by money-throwers IMHO. Of course, it's not my money, and they can do with their money what they like.

Fine, but this is the reason why Su hoars have the balls for their $100 opening salvo.

But I digress.

Here is what I love in Su.

The beach is beautiful and swimmable. Beach is a big deal for me. You need to travel at least a couple hours away from Copacabana in either direction to find a swimming beach like that. Rio beaches are beautiful, but the waters are choppy. You'll be thrown around (I was injured once).

The food is generally good. Certainly, there're few eateries compared to Rio, but how many restaurants does one man need?

Affordability. I've rented pool villas and penthouses in Sosua that I wouldn't be able to touch in Rio.

I'm not looking for tourist attractions when I'm in Su. I can fill my limited days with the beach, food and night life.

CONCLUSION.

If you have less than 10 days, go to Sosua. If more, try Brazil.

Unless you don't like to travel and see new places. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Different strokes.

Besides, not everyone loves Rio. I know people who hate it. Although, I haven't met anyone who wouldn't like Brazileras.

The one thing I've found to be a constant when it comes to mongering is that every place is different. Each has its pros and cons. Xpartan made a good comparison between Sosua and Rio. I've been to both and enjoy both. So, for someone like Mongmann to come on here and bash Sosua is not only pointless, but also ignorant. Since beauty is 100% subjective, along with preferences about flight travel, hotels, food, pricing, language, ect, the only way to truly know what you'll like is to go there and try it out, finding the best fit for you. A perfect example was a trip I just took to Ecuador. As far as mongering goes, it was definitely in my top three of all time. Personally, I love Sosua. I've never had a bad experience and I always make friends each trip. A lot of guys that come here for the first time over think it, getting caught up in pricing, how to negotiate, the best bar, ridiculous online dating apps, and fail to look at the most important part: the human element.
