Late arrivals present no problem. A number of 24 hr bars including Voodoo which is 60 seconds from the front door of the Pacific Breeze. If they don't take your fancy stick a cork in your arse and head to the Blow Row bars in A Santos that never close. [The cork is to prevent 8' of bed-sheet disappearing up your freckle] Those girls will ensure you don't feel left out on your first night!

If we could wack foreigners and get off with a year of jail nobody would be coming to the USA!! Did you hear about the Chinese tutor at Virginia Tech chopping off the head of his student? Between the Korean gunman and this dude, the Asians are tearing things up down home! I'm sure both of those guys will be free in a decade.

It's not just the life of Caucasians...it's human life in general. The only reason that the murder of a Caucasian, or any other foreigner, makes the news is that it's a rare occurrence. Filipinos murdering each other isn't even news most of the time.
This is a country in which feelings run deep, in which the loss of face is a major motivator for revenge, and in which greed is rampant and the justice system a sham that runs as a cash register for those who operate it. As the economy here sinks every further into oblivion, it's likely that crime will increase. All of this is why those of us who have lived here for a while know how important it is to retain a low profile at all times; never to call attention to yourself, and not to offend anyone.

Planning to visit AC in the spring--will be my first trip.
Just have a few questions regarding exchanging money.
I've done some RTFF and many of you have said that Normas gives the best exchange rate in AC.
My questions are.
1. Will be flying in from HK (currently have base camp in HK). Does Normas exchange HK dollars $$ or Chinese RMB $$ for that matter?
And whereabouts is Normas in AC?
2. Does the Clark Airport have any money exchange counters?
3. Does anyone exchange money $$ in any of the banks in PP, like one can do in Bangkok? (In Bangkok, I find the banks give almost as good of rates as the street exchange kiosks)

Don't know if Normas exchanges HK Dollars etc , but location is here:

Clark airport has money changers but you don't need them if you have organised a hotel pickup (recommended imo). Once you are booked in, head off to Normas or one of the other changers if Normas is a way from your hotel.
Going to the banks is a longer walk than to Normas (or many other changers in Fields) and the bureaucracy is something else.
ATMs are not always reliable 100% but I have always been able to find some that work (I suggest both cirrus and +Plus cards to be sure).

You will be better off taking US$, pounds, euros, etc if you can get your hands on them or just use your ATM card for a better rate. Just don't depend on the ATM's on weekends as they run out of cash pretty quickly.
There are a few money changers on Fields alone. Be careful when coming out of those things if the kids swarm you. As in any place like that, put your money somewhere it's hard to get pick pocketed. There is also a Western Union there that exchanges money on Fields I like to use next to the Chow King. You can also do exchanges in SM Mall there.
There are ATM options also, just not the greatest. Read up on them if interested. As a safety measure, I don't think it ever hurts to carry some US Dollars.

Heads-up for anyone wanting to change your monies, if u're wanting to change over the weekend. BDO bank in SM Clark (mall) give better rates than the money changers outside. It's just 15 minutes walk from Fields Ave. For changing Chinese/HK notes, the option is to go to Angeles city (via jeepney only p7. 50) there are some money changers near/around Jenra Mall area.
Will be in AC between 29 Jan - 1 Feb, I'm from Aus and planning to use my laptop over there, any chance it will blow up?

I am in AC right now.
It is better to change money in Manila.
Yesterday I was getting 47.20 peso vs USD and it was 46.80 at AC.
For HKD you get 4.90 peso here.
Wwho the hell knows what will happen in April as the USD is dropping .

I just arrive to AC today on P Rabbit bus from Avenida Sta Cruz bus station.
It takes only 90 min, cost 130 peso.
It dropped me off at Field.
I'm staying at Central Park for 1500 peso a night.
I went to WOW at Santo and picked a girl up for a quick BBBJ.
Back to the hotel: 600 peso.
It doesn't get any cheaper than that.
I have alot of cash left for a few more days.
Maybe I can get 2 girls tonight and spoil myself .

From your postings, I have concluded the following:
1. Yes, HK and RMB can be exchanged in AC, but not all changers will do it.
2. The exchange rate for these 2 currencies (if availble) is poor.
3. I will exchange HK $$ for Pisos in HK, and get some US dollars as well. I think this will do the trick.
