And yes, in Bangkok [B]always[/B] use the meter. Everytime a driver suggested a "fix price" it turned out to be more expensive than the meter.

Depending on the traffic, that trip should cost perhaps 50 baht. But again, never hesitate to use the meter!

1. KuDeTa. This nightclub is located in 98 Sathorn Square Building, Silom. Not a good place to pick up hookers, there were mostly non-pros. Crowded with youngsters, loud and designed by a moron who has put the toilets behind the fance floor so you have to squeeze through the crowd to get there. No cover charge.

2. Spasso at Grand Hyatt hotel. I stepped in briefly, full of working girls on Wed evening asking for 6000 be and more for ST. Many ladies in their late 20's or early 30's, some nice looking ones. Did not rent any.

3. Bangkok Beat. A very brief visit. Too dark, too loud and I was too sober.

Will.[/QUOTE]The upstairs Mandarin Bar in Nana is one of the bars the has a two tiered barfine system; 700-800 baht for some of the girls and 1,500 baht for other girls that someone on their staff has determined to be "special" girls due to their looks, age, popularity, skills, who knows. I think Electric Blue Bar in Patpong has a similar system. Maybe you can tell which are which by their costume, badge style, number or something. You can just ask first, of course. The mamasan has a list of badge numbers stating which are the "special" girls. So in that sense, it isn't a scam or a trick. I mean, they aren't just making up a barfine anount for every girl on a whim or depending on the customer.

IMO, the "special" girls in Mandarin aren't exactly "Coyotes" like they are in some other bars. After all, thay ARE available for barfine, the barfine for them only jumps to about double the usual 700-800 baht rate instead of jumping from 700-800 baht to 3,000 baht (just to the bar!) as might be the case elsewhere and, as was suggested, after you pay the barfine, the money you pay the girl is comparable to what you would probably pay the regular girls.

I am adamently against the bait-and-switch Coyote scam as practiced in many venues. But I have partaken of the 'special" girl system in Mandarin Bar a few times, paid the 1,500 baht barfine and, guess what, I would have no problem doing it again almost anytime based on my previous experience with it so far.

By god, the four or five times I did pay the 700 baht greater barfine (1,500 baht) for a girl at Mandarin, the experience in my room was indeed "special" in that they turned out to be some of the sweetest, most hassle-free REAL Girlfriend Experiences I've had with a go-go girl in quite a while. Plus, those girls were hot lookers too! And you know what, if that is what I can reasonably count on to get for the extra 700 baht, I will happily pay it.

FOR SURE, your mileage may still vary just like always and I would not recommend anyone alter their usual interview process on the assumption they won't need it with one of those girls. There is probably a strategy for this kind of ripoff bar but pulling a lady off stage for temporary company and pay 300 b is not a good one. Maybe it was the lady or I pissed off the mamasan.

In the past I have taken 4 or 5 ladies from this place and it seems to be getting more & more cut throat as time rolls on. They have some really hot nudes there and so the general monger population is all over that place. They have outstanding talent but fuck, that doesn't give them the right to blatantly rip off welling meaning mongers. *I was blatantly lied to and cheated, I was fucking mad about it too.
