Gentlemen,
I think I have have read that Bangkok nightlife venues will be closed sometime during November?
Anyone know exactly what nights this will affect?
If bars and such are closed will there be FL ladies available?
How about places like Thermae; will they be closed also?
Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

I don't think that guys spoil the market, it's just capitalism. Demand and Supply. In countries were p4p is difficult prices are high, also in those countries were prices and salaries are high. Thailand should be a cheap country for p4p, since supply is high, salaries are lower than in the west and specially prices for service are low as well. Unfortunatelly the demand for really pretty girls are higher than the supply. Therefore these girls are more expensive usually. But, in Thailand somebody can be lucky with finding a pretty girl for a low price as well. In low season for examplr, or a newcomer with not much experience. So, no need to complain.

Thailand will close up tighter than a drum for the funeral of Princess Galyani Vadhana, the king's sister. The dates are actually November 14-19.

I thought the party was a lot of fun. I like to go to LL to eat at the restaurant (I was there last night), and have stayed there a number of times. The best part is getting to know the people who work there. The place has a lot of character(s). The lovely ladies in the Sports Bar are fun, too.
Something tells me this one was bound to happen sooner or later.
Feeling lonely in Bangkok, more in the mood for a girl over night than a massage. So yeah let's go where the bars are, find a girl have a few beers and make small talk. She seems ok. At least she's young and looks ok even though not my preferred kind of look. After a while asks if we should go somewhere else, sure let's.
Go a few places just a little more to drink since I'm not looking to get wasted on a weeknight. Now the problem comes. This girl is an idiot. She seemed kind of sweet in the bar, but really. She is an idiot. And very bargirly and "unthai" in the demeanor, foul language, she is nice to me but just really not my type. I guess some guys like their girls rough but I am more charmed by the nice warm and friendly thai ladies that I've met on previous occasions.
So now what to do? Can I just ditch her on the street saying it's not my cup of tea or do I proceed. Well I decided to take her back to hotel even though not really feeling like it. Sex was okay, game for all except anal which I do not go for anyway etc. But man, even when taking a girl just for a nights fun a little more sweet personality goes a long way in my book. She left me thinking I never wanna take a girl from a bar again. Not sure if I explained fully about her ways to make it clear, but just trust me when I say she was a rough neck idiot who talked way to much with a way to foul mouth.

Chalk it up as a good learning experience in p4p, and next time try to get to know the girl a little better before putting up the bar fine.

First of all, they had to have the 100 days morning period. In the meantime, they've had to build the funeral pavilion and crematoria etc. which has taken about 7 months to complete. I understand the pavilion has 4 elevators in it to take the high mucky-mucks to the top where the princess will be waiting for the torch. The whole funeral will cost an estimated $9 million US. -absolutely disgusting, given the level of poverty in this country. The irony is that the princess, being a great humanitarian would have been appalled at such lavish waste. The whole thing is to re-inforce the monarchy and therefore, the established powers.

This is an extremely serious event and something that's considered of the highest national importance to the Thais. There hasn't been a funeral of this size for a long time. Given that the princess was the king's elder sister and given the general worry about the king's own health, the event will likely take on an even more somber tone than normal.
Therefore, I suspect that everything will be shut right throught until the funeral is over and maybe until the end of that week (i.e. November 21 or 22). The actual cremation is on Wednesday, November 19. That day, in particular will be a national day of morning. It's very doubtful that you'll find even any freelancers roaming around, at least in BKK. In theory, Pattaya should be the same. But, Pattaya being Pattaya, it's hard to know for sure.
I'm dreading th whole thing because once again, I'll have to dress in black for the duration.

Happens all the time.
This is where you started to go wrong. You don't really want to agree to anything till you are sure you really like her.
Buying a drink is O.K. That's no committment.
But don't want to pay a BF without a clear understanding between both of you what is the purpose.
Try to buy a drink for more than one girl is my preferred option so that it is not clear who I am really interested in. I might not be clear myself initially.
Once you discover she is an idiot, if no one else takes your fancy, simply settle the bill and leave. If someone else does take your fancy you can offer to barfine her only.
Recently at LL Sports bar, the girl or two that interested me were busy playing pool with customers. The mamasan was keenly pushing me at several girls (not my preferred options), so I bought the mamasan and a couple of others drinks to keep them guessing and showed no real interest in anyone until the girl I wanted came over to be introduced, bought her a drink and soon got into the chat and invited her to dinner. The other one seemed still busy so I abondoned thoughts of two girls to dinner.
It sometimes can be tricky getting to the girl you want when other more forward (slutty) girls are trying to get all over you. But you have to fail to co-operate skilfully. Its worse when the best girls are already taken.
So a bit of experience helps a lot. P.S. A lot of girls can turn into idiots when drunk, but try to avoid these types. A couple of leg-opener drinks is sometimes useful on very shy girls who are not really sure that they are P4P or not (LOL) but you have to know when is enough.
If I have taken up a fair bit of time of some girl but am not BFing her, I sometimes give her a small consolation tip, but probably only if I want to encourage her on for my next visit.
There are some persistent girls that are very hard to get rid of in polite ways. This would cause me to avoid a bar completely or perhaps even tell her to fuck off if I really must be at that bar.
Another huge problem is that once you have gone with the idiot girl from a bar, some other girls will label you as being "her customer". This can be hard to shake on occassions. Once you have a reputation for being a butterfly, you are better off.

All these lady drinks that you advocate add up, especially when they are all well over 100bt a time. Then bar fines and dinner!. And finally the fee to the girl. Runs into thousands, with no guarantee of a good fuck. For the same money, Opebo and I can have a number of short times, with or without bareback, and statistically, some are bound to be good.

I got caught mid flight on the funeral and work was shut down for my entire two week stay (damn :D ) luckily I had a TGF at the time and some local numbers to call. This time, I've learned a little in that I'm landing Nov 21 :) So by the next week start I hope work issues will be back up and running.... But you never know, they could decide to extend this for another week or two.

The more the alcohol the worse the experience IMHO. A few drinks is fine but if you want a good time then NEVER take a drunk girl or let her start chugging from the duty free bottle of Black Label or such in the room :D As you say a few drinks to loosen the shy ones up is perfect but drunk is never good.
Who was it recently 50/50 had a good report of a drunk he got stuck with...
