Eyewitness accounts, given to me by people I know that work in nearby bars, and other nearby locations. As well as personally witnessing soldiers picking up pieces of evidence.
Oh so you are in town? Cool.
Given the choices we have these days, NL, Juarez, etc, I'm sure the flip of a coin is the best deciding factor. Shits happening all over the place.
It's bad enough during the daytime. A friend of mine just got robbed over there by the cops.
Where did this occur and what time of day?
Where did this occur and what time of day?
I believe it was on Ave. Juarez, during the day time. I don't know what time it was. They were frisking him, "for drugs." Same old shit. They didn't find any drugs on him, but they did find some money, so they helped themselves to some of that. It's just the same old shit. He's a white guy, so he's a target.

Was this guy a monger?
Local E.P. high school teacher shot and killed.

Sad Sad Sad
Apparently he was at 630 am. I can only imagine being out at that time in am. Who knows what he was up to. Either way that is very unfortunate. You guys be safe down. Sounds like things are only worsening. Go elsewhere. Fuck Juarez!

It would stick out like a sore thumb. I had my new car taken away a few years back. I don't take anything they like down there. It is getting crazy and who knows where is next? I am starting to avoid it. I keep getting texts of when I am coming back. But now who knows?

H.S. Teacher, Cops, Etc.
Have no idea how true this is, but I heard this 56 year old high school teacher was driving about six blocks west of Juarez Ave. when this happened. Certainly a shame, but a total error for a white guy of any age to drive a new Camry in Juarez.
Cops frisked me about a week ago, took 140 pesos.
Two American guys were in the sports book the other day (by the bridge), went for a stroll..one guy I know of got robbed of $200..his friend was robbed of $175. Same song, different verse: Never carry more money to Juarez than you can afford to lose..much less a new Toyota Camary in a bad area. Some people just never learn.

Still not a good thing with NFL kicking off. Myself, I'm usually in & out of the book and beat feet to the bridge lately.
One thing I've never been too fond of there is the concept of "A LINE" seems to be non-existent. You can be at the "window" and have 3 people right next you and over your shoulder.
I always have my bets lined out now and only take what it'll cost but who knows what someone else thinks you may have left in your pocket.
I just hope the book is on "the right side of the fence" if they get in the middle of any "business pressures". Caliente is too far a walk for me...
Wasn't that great when you could walk in there on a Friday nite, relax and do your paperwork and then hit a few clubs before leaving with a smile?
Now it's all stratergery...

What happened with the two men who left the sports book was..they wanted to drink at a bar further down on Av. Juarez. Upon leaving that bar, they were robbed of $200 and $175. Expensive drinks. I was frisked, and my bastard cop robbed me of only 140 pesos..which is why I carry "no more money than I can afford to lose."
I, too, am in and out of the sports book pronto.
So right on, a few years ago, one could go into downtown Juarez on a Friday or Saturday, enjoy some cool ones, do whatever, even sit outside across from the Casa de Cambio house on Av. Juarez, and visit with friends, etc. Those days are gone.
If it were not for one or two providers that I see on a regular basis, my days of visiting Juarez would be over. But the damn El Paso LE make it very difficult to find economic providers..and then, the threat of being arrested and your name, picture, etc., gets in the newspaper and internet. It's not far from a no win situation..on either side of the Rio Grande.

Repeat 10 times until you got in down
