I think I understand some of your tastes from our exchanges on the Singapore board about 18 months or so ago. In my view, you will love La Havana Makati (Makati Greenbelt 3) -- pretty high-end people, feeling of the 'hunt', a mix of regular girls and FL's etc. LA Cafe etc are very very low end pick-up joints, I went there once, as soon as I stepped in I stepped out, it was a ghastly experience. I may get flamed for saying so, fair enough, but this place is really low-end, no sense of 'hunting' at all, dirty, smokey, full of fat 50+ year olds who can't get laid in the West etc. Not to mention that when you bring back one of those hardcore pro's to your hotel room, you'd better be careful at not getting stolen, i think I read quite a few stories on this board. These are hard-core pros...

Anyway, enjoy MNL, it's paradise. IMHO La Havana is outstanding.

Also, taxis from LA Cafe late at night/early morning - see earlier posts as some go to Makati via the local areas where the police try and shake you down for a contribution to their favourite charity. So be careful with those immediately outside LA Cafe and make sure you tell them to take you the direct route via the main roads

I went into the ground floor, too smoky, average to poor looking chicks, too crowded. I probably lasted for 10 min and headed out.

But, the more I read the posts here, the more I'm tempted to give it a 2nd chance. I did 2 weeks ago. I went straight to 1st floor. The gals quality is much better. Gals also less aggressive. I got a 8/10 for that night, stay overnight but straight business. No regret but won't repeat her. 2nd night I got a very pretty young mother. Can tell she genuinely like me (maybe bcoz of alcohol). Some kissings and caressing while dancing. Tempted to take her but eventually a gal from Burgo turn up to meet me there at LA. She got me that night.

Now, I will say, LA cafe is reasonably good but only at 1st floor.

But you're right....Cafe Havana seems more about what I'm looking for...our tastes seem to be pretty similar, you're right. Will check out the Malate location too and see if it compares to the one in Greenbelt 3.

Thanks again Wicked for the contacts...will surely give them a call not long after I settle in. I checked the pix too...very nice indeed. I'll definitely spend some time in all of the venues mentioned...I'd be forever kicking myself if I didn't allow myself the full tour. But yeah, I'm betting if Havana lives up to my expectations, that's where I'll end up most of the time.

On taxis...point taken. I'm staying at the Executive Plaza, so when I decide to go to Makati or even EDSA, I'd planned to walk back to the hotel or perhaps just Robinson's and take a cab from there. May not be any safer or less corrupt, but I've heard enough bad news about the cabbies that linger outside LA to avoid them alltogether.

Checked the place out last night (Friday night) around midnight and I don't see what all the fuss is about. Small bar with an even smaller dance floor. The men outnumbered the women three to one. Older crowd including the women. Luckily I had my smokin' hot date 'Short Stuff' with me. We had a round of mojitos, danced a few numbers since the band was good and headed out to sample some of the other places of Malate; report to follow.

Thanks Mattrick...sounds like the Malate version isn't quite the same scence as the one in Makati, but then I guess that's to be expected maybe. Will scope it out and report back as well.

The nice thing about Makati unlike Manila is Makati is smoke free. I am not trying to get into a pro/con debate on smoking. I personally don't go to smoking establishments. Cafe Havana even outside is pretty stank with smoking including a lot of cigars.

Conways in the Shangrala has no smoking since it is an high end hotel (the girls are too damn pricy and most of them ancient and again 45+).

Hard Rock has a smoking area you can avoid but the girls tend to hang there (they tend to be OLD 45+ and cater to the really old expat crowd).

All the bars on P Borgs allow smoking. As a bar owner said to me "if some drunk wants to throw away hundreds of dollars on drinks and girls he is more than welcome to smoke. "

And remember if you have a really drunk friend, sit him at a table near the stairs at Cafe Havan. See if he hits on the lady boys.

I have to agree with you Mandiri, it is a totally different crowd. La Cafe reminds me of the "old wild wild west". Out there in a smokey saloon drinking it up with skanky girls. Sometimes you can find a gem in all that smoke, but most of them are just wild and untamed. If you like that kind of wild girls that are aimed to please and you want to do it animal style, then this is the place to go. Just act like a wild beast, dress like a bum, and get into a drunken stupor and girls will flock to you. ;)

Greenbelt 3 is more of the upper class area, where fine dinning and civilized people hang out. It will cost you a pretty penny to play here, but girls are more civilized and subtle. So you need to put on your game face over here and dress to kill.

Just remember, anyplace you go, they are all pros, so don't fall in love. hahaha.

Another tip about police, do not drink alcohol beverages on the street, they will take you in and then you need to bribe them.

I think my favorite place to monger in Manila was Edsa and the food is pretty good here. You should make this first on your list. It is kind of on the higher end of the pricing, but well worth it. Costs varies:

Bar Fine is around 1200 to 1400 peso
Girls
Short term from 2000 to 3000
Long term from 2500 to 3500

You get to bring them back to your hotel. Expect to pay around 5000 pesos for several hours of play here. Girl quality is around 5-8 here.

(i) if you are bored in singapore and prior to your visit to MNL, hit the dating web-sites and line up a couple of friendly contacts. Always good to have a 'welcoming committee' upon arrival. I arrived the other day in Makati and had my "date in asia" date come over at 5pm to my hotel lobby. After a quick drink by the pool, we went to my room and at 5.45pm I was getting a fantastic BBBJ in the comfort of the couch in my bedroom ! I felt I was a porn star. She wants more banging from me now but in the past 2 days I have amassed so many contacts locally here in the field that I am unable to find any time to meet her again. I found a web site called Chikka.com (hopefully that is allowed by Jackson) for sending and receiving text messages. I use it to send to my girl in the PI all the time. When she replies to me, it only costs her 2 Pesos. This is a great savings for her (and me) compared to a text to my Korean phone normally costs her 15 Pesos. Of course, being in Korea, I cannot receive her Chikka texts on my phone without it costing much more. I have to be near an Internet connected computer to utilize the Chikka service. But I believe in the rest of Asia (which seems to not be as technologically backward as Korea) the messages can be cheaply relayed to the cell phone. It's not perfect, but it's something you might want to check into if you want your girls to be able to reach out and touch you without having to pay and arm and a leg for it.

Make sure the phone you bring is a tri-band/quad-band phone otherwise it won't work in the pi. You can pick up a used cell phone in the pi for around $30. Well worth the money!
