It is very different from Pattaya, Thailand. But if you take it for what it has the offer I am sure you will have a very enjoyable experience. Besides your are only 2 minutes away from Puerto Plata and 2 hours from Santiago if you need a change of Scenery.

If you don't like the offerings on the street. Tinder and Dominican Cupid can be your friend. I am almost certain there are more social media apps popular with the chicas than I know. I am old school.

Make sure you check out the casino. Go late 0000 - 0400 Friday and Saturday night is off the chain.

And there are two distinct Thai dialects, which are as different as Spanish and Portuguese. Unless you are very young, you're not going to learn both dialects very well.

Having said that, anyone planning to spend much time in Sosua, or any destination where Spanish is spoken, definitely should learn the language to some degree.

In Sosua, or DR in general, you definitely need to learn Spanish. I was in Santo Domingo and Boca Chica and felt like an alien because there were no signs in English and no one speaking english. I couldn't even order a coffee if I wanted and the ATMs didn't work either (US banks do not accept ATM requests from every random ATM you use).

It was only until I got to Sosua did I find english tailored and speaking businesses. Even the working girls didn't speak fluent english.

That was a huge reality check for me. Dubai and Thailand are my frequent destinations, but if I ever go back to DR or Colombia I plan to learn the language.

Whether it be the DR, Colombia and many other places none of them are as good as they used to be whether it be prices or service it has certainly declined. That said, one can still get good service at an acceptable price you just might have to dig a little deeper. Colombia is a perfect example of this. I moved to Colombia full time almost a year ago and I've finally built a great rotation of four smoking hot girls that do everything that I want them to do at a decent price, I'm having a blast with them but it took awhile to build, some disappointments along the way without a doubt. When I first went to Colombia almost 20 years ago it would have taken me very little time to build such a roster and for the price of a ham sandwich, inflation hits all things pussy included, deal with it.

I counted 17 eager servers in there 2 nights ago! Music, spacious, and decent food for a bar. It's been opened and closed with no notice a dozen times in the past couple years. It's just a little off the beaten track.

It's a business model quite common in the Sosua bar business. Local with connections who knows what he is doing builds up a strong clientele.

When it's at it's peak he'll find a warm body investor, or two, and off load it at a nice price. When it all falls apart, and the padlocks go on the door, he'll pick it up for a song, and rinse and repeat!

I believe 95 percent of all the OG's on here have a great fond memory of pulling a fine honey out of Classicos. Sometimes I honestly wonder what would be the total cost (including greasing the palms to the powers that be) for that venue to re-open again.

Such a great venue, location with fond memories from so MANY expats for it to still be sitting there rotting away.
