A small update. 'Espelunca' Chic at this location is now Barthodomeu. I don't go there often -- probably the last time was June or July -- but it had changed already. But the scene is still the same. Jumping, but somehow the quaint, attractive little place across the street is always deserted (yellow with green trim).
Espelunca Chic is (or was?) some sort of chain but I haven't checked to see If any other locations are still open. But that would be a good bet. The food at Espelunca is definitely more 'cougaresc'. Another hangout is any Cafeina -- especially the one on Farme. Most of the men will be gay so it is open season.
Still, unless you are pretty hot and speak some Portuguese, I think your chances are low. But, you never know until you try. It has been remarked a number of times that gringos have an extra hill to climb with non-pros. Sort of yin and yang. Since the gdp scene is so easy and abundant (despite the loss of Help) it is fitting that the other should be more difficult. But, compared to your chances in the 'developed world' I would say no worse -- which is pretty bad!
Good cougar hunting to all. And BTW, it's not only cougars that hang out at such places.

Actually, I've never been in it. It is alwyas pretty empty so why go in. It just looks like chicks would go there. Wood frame with windows, multilevel seating ... but I don't know. What's wrong with it?
Anyway, the good thing about finding a place ladies like to go is the numbers. Lots of them so better chances. The down side is they go in groups which presents challenges. Also, in a place like Cafeina, they may be off their guard.

Emporio opens most nights at 23:00 (11:00 PM) and seldom closes before 5:00 AM. It rarely gets going before 12:30 AM. If you show up at 2:00 AM on Thursdays night the place will have spilled out onto the street. Show up at 3:30 AM and there are drunk sluts (non-GDP's) laughing and carrying on. It can be hit or miss but I have dropped by a few times for a night cap at 3:00 AM and have ended up bringing a girl home a couple of times. In fact, once I brought one home because she was so drunk I didn't think she would make it back to her parent place in Laranjeiras. Once I got her to my room she passed out on the sofa with a drink in her hand. You can imagine her surprise when she woke up at 8:00 AM not knowing where she was (I know the feeling well).
Hi, I am new to the Brazilian scene and would appreciate if someone could clear up some terminology. On Karla Models, the description of the girls use words like "inicante" and "completinha", does this hint to any inhibitions that the girls have? There are many on this board who speak better Portuguese than me but for lack of any responses, I will say that the word "inicante" is like the English word Initial so in my opinion they are using it here to say that the girl is a beginner. "completinha" on the other hand refers to the fact that the girl provides complete service which is usually a code word for does anal.

The above site has a list of independents but not low priced usually but if you scroll down the page you will come to some advertisements of other escort agencies, one such agency StarCris I see advertised as 100 reais but I’m not sure if that is for 2 hours or not but for sure they are competitively priced as well as CIA to Karla models.
I have never used Karla models but have used CIA and StarCris on numerous occasions, the catch usually is that although the girls are young and have good attitudes and provide good service they usually don't resemble runway models. While in most cases this may not be necessary they usually provide an adequate product and service for the money. You will get value and a bang for your buck here as compared to the current high prices of the high end termas that run near 300 reais for a 40 min session.
