It wasn't the EU to scare anyone, the brexit leaders did with all those lies about immigration and the entry of Turkey in the EU with the unavoidable Turkish immigrant invasion. They used to go and tell unemployed and uneducated people that the reason why their life sucked was because of the Polish doctor working at their local hospital, or tell factory workers that they should vote leave to oppose tax evasions EU laws because one day they may also become wealthy. Brexit was a battle won on people's most primordial fears and was underestimated by the government at the time. The brexit dream ended on January 1st, when even brexiteers realised that trading freely with the largest single market in the world is actually important and cannot be replaced by trade agreements with Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands and Switzerland. Particularly now when a trade deal with US is unlikely, the one with China impossible due to diplomatic issues, the one with India unlikely as they are very protectionists and would ask for free movement of people. I hope it is a lesson learned!

There are two major motivation why this will come. No matter what: BTW: The passes will come for almost all the world (imo). Even US, Uk, almost everywhere.
A) to reach herd immunity you need 85-90% of the people to get vaccinated. Because vaccination is only 80-95% effective. Otherwise you can not get 70-80% of the people immunized. And the new mutants are infectious. So herd immunity is becoming tougher.
B) if you don't have herd immunity, we may face a 3rd, 4th or 5th lockdown. Why should we risk putting all commercial establishement into bankruptcy? Why should all those that got the shot, force to stay home in yet another lock-down?
It would be unfair to shops, business, society. Just because say 30% -40% are refusing to get vaccinated?
So instead of forcing them to get vaccinated, you simply tell them. Ok don't. But please stay home. Keep masks on. And don't go into pubs, clubs, let alone FKK.

It's not ideal by any means. I guess I'm just reinforcing the bigger picture of it all. Ideally we could live in society where you have full control over all aspects of your personal information and ability to exercise complete freedom without restraint from outside parties but reality suggests that it would be futile as the mass populace will move us in a way where we will gradually give up small pieces of autonomy in order to benefit from collective progress.
But rational opinions such as yours that show healthy skepticism can serve to check the loss of autonomy, freedom, and privacy. Such opinions I think are beneficial as they are not rooted in bastardized extremist "facts" and paranoid conspiracy theories.

We really just need the most severe cases to be curbed as to reduce healthcare system burden which means vaccinating high numbers of high risk people. Also keep in mind that previous infections most likely offers a good deal of protection and also helps to soften the herd immunity threshold. Just throwing a guestimate out there, I think 50% vaccinated with most being in the high risk population in combination with naturally acquired immunity from prior infection should be practical enough to warrant a good bit of normal societal operation.
It appears that the hospitalized cases in the US and UK are pretty close to warrant complete reopening and we are still operating at very low vaccination numbers. Perhaps I am too optimistic but it's just my educated guess.

So far it is mainly kindergarten ski resorts. But the Himalayas should have great potentials one day. But it takes time for them to build it out and find the best locations I suppose. Plus the locals needs to improve in avalanche safety measures. It is not the same as hiking.
The one they ended up with looks fairly good. But one of the proposals for the downhill run would have killed you LOL.

The severity of the recession was caused by the coronavirus and the lockdowns. So it's most certainly not primarily about Brexit.
As you can see in the link below no other European country have administered close to as many doses as the UK. So yeah, people in other countries are envious of the UK.
