There is a simple solution to all of this. Just sit at the bar! I like the fact that I can scope out the whole bar from my perch on a bar stool. The bartenders will happily serve you and will only open 1 of the 2 for 1 beers at a time and you can swap the 2nd beer out for a cold one when you are ready. Most of the girls will walk by at some point and most importantly, the meseros will leave you the hell alone because the bartenders rule the bar. I have been approached by plenty of girls at the bar and have had no problem negotiating for a visit upstairs. If you really feel the need to snuggle up in a booth with a chica, you can move to one and at least you will have avoided the first round of nonsense with the pushy meseros. This works for me in all the Zona bars. I know these waiters are just trying to make a living but there is a fine line between offering services and being a pest.
