Carnal1, The action is spread out all over Guadalajara, and to my knowledge there are no 4 or 5 star hotels located in el centro. All of the following except Tapatio are reasonably well located with regard to clubs and massage.
Quinta Real is best hotel in town and one of the nicest places I've stayed anywhere. Hilton might be the second best. At the next level (four star) I'd put Camino Real, Intercontinental/Presidente, and Crowne Plaza. There are probably others as well that I don't have any experience with. I've been dissatisfied with A/C in certain rooms in the Intercontinental/Presidente and Crowne Plaza. Otherwise, I don't have any complaints about any of the hotels listed above. I can't comment much about guest friendliness, except to say lobbies of all of the above except Quinta Real are busy enough that you shouldn't have a problem, provided she's not dressed like a ****.
I'd pick Quinta Real for 5 star. For 4 star, I might pick from the list above based on price. I stayed recently at Camino Real for about $85 which I thought was a bargain. There's a drive through gate used by cars & delivery vehicles that you can use to sneak women in & avoid the walk of shame, although this won't work for all the rooms. And it's close to Men's Club.
If you've got a car and don't mind 3 star, Hotel Tapatio is ideal. You can drive your date to your doorstep and it's got a great view of the city -- a romantic setting. Not well located though, except it's close to some lower-end strip clubs on the airport road.
Please see my post a couple of months ago in this string for dated information about strip clubs. None are touristy, but the higher end clubs are all high pressure and overpriced. There are low-priced clubs spotted all over the city. For the MP's, also read this thread. I've read very good things about Eduardo's, recommended below by Serinar, on the local board. Haven't been by yet.
I like Guadalajara, but it isn't a great destination for the hookers or for tourism -- hope your expectations aren't too high.

GDL My Favorite City
I plan on arriving on a saturday and leaving tuesday. I enjoy hanging in the Central parts of town, walking around the squares and historical sights.QUOTE]
Hi Carnal1,
When I'm in GDL on business I stay at the hotels Tiney12 has mentioned. He describes them quite accurately. When in GDL for vacation, I stay at the Hotel de Mendoza, V. Carranaz 16. This is smack dab in the middle of the downtown historical district. There are dozens of plazas, museums, cathredrals, etc. within a 10 minute walk. You will be there just the right number of days not to get bored, but have time to see most of it.
Guadalajara is one of the friendliest cities I have every been to. You might want to pick up a travel guide and read up ahead of time. There are a lot of low key, fun things to do. I use the Moon Handbook's Guide to Guadalajara.
The Hotel Mendoza (www.demendoza.com.mx) was at one time a convent, I believe. It is not fancy, but has adequate, clean rooms, a restaurant on the roof overlooking the plaza, and is about $110/night. No chicas allowed in the rooms. Its centrally located so you can get to a lot of the MPs and other "service providers" :) with a cheap taxi ride.
I've done a lot of street mongering, walk up hotel mongering, and non-tourist strip club mongering down near Ave. Juarez and the San Juan de Dios Market & Plaza de los Mariachis. I enjoy it for the thrill, but it is kind of dirty and dangerous. Not for the faint of heart or non-Spanish speaker.
I would agree Guadlajara is not that great of a monger destination and there are lots of better tourist destinations. But over all it can be a fun, friendly, and relaxing city - and much safer than Mexico City.
Have a great trip,
M.L.

MunchLunch, I was thinking about your post on the can this morning (where I do my best thinking) and you're right. I might be a little burned out on the place because I've spent so much time there. El centro is interesting. Maybe not Oaxaca or Mexico City, but still worth seeing. A two or three hour late afternoon lunch at one of the primo restaurants in Tlaquepaque or maybe El Coyote is a great way to pass some time, especially with a nice date. And if you speak Spanish you should be able to line up one at one of the clubs -- there's no shortage of late 20's exotic dancers with a couple of kids that would enjoy a nice date with a gringo, followed by a roll in the hay if some monetary compensation is involved. I've been to a couple of conventional clubs (no strippers) on Lopez Mateos with shows that I enjoyed, even if they were cheesy. Like you say, it's a nice city.

GdL
Thank you for the responses. I have gone back thru a few posts and it seems that Hi Class gets pretty decent reviews along with Eduards. I enjoy hanging in the clubs people watching, conversing with the staff, and the girls. I've been to Costa Rica three times (Blue Marlin, Key Largo, and Zona Blue), any similarities?
I would prefer a club that has some organized/standardized minimum service levels, the ones where girls are not allowed to try and work the customers. I understand that upselling is part of every club but can hold my own under those kind of circumstances.
Freelancers at local night clubs would be a great second or third night. Any suggestions on venues? Keep in mind that want to keep within walking distance of the El Centro.

the "esteticas masculinas" (in the yellow pages, like high class, [CodeWord123], jovi, eduardo, jet set) are like high priced zona blues with a barber in place of the bar. you can get a shave and a haircut but not a mixed drink. some of the women are more attractive than what you'd find in zona blue. i don't know any clubs that would meet your criteria. there's nothing like blue marlin. as far as something organized, with minimum service levels, women not bugging you, forget it. only thing i can think of is guadalajara del dia, and last time i went, 5 years ago, it sucked. i'm not even sure if it's still open.
be careful if you decide to go hiking from a hotel in the centro after dark. i wouldn't do it. there are lower end options in el centro, also lipstick, but as munch lunch said it's not particularly safe. on the other hand, by mexican standards gdl is safe -- just not the centro.

Rates
Tiny 12,
Any idea what the going rates are at the Esteicas like High Class?
-
carnal, it's 500 pesos in high class, and they have a special promotion right now, two chicas for 700. i think the 500 pesos is just for 30 minutes. that's what i read on the local board, i've never been to high class. one local wrote recently that quality there right now isn't very good.
if you go to high class, i'd recommend you take a walk down lazaro cardenas towards lopez mateos. on the right side of lazaro cardenas very close to the traffic circle you'll find [CodeWord123], which is historically where i've found the best looking chicas, also the most mechanical. and farther on on the left a couple of blocks before lopez mateos you'll run across jovi. the selection at jovi is usually considerably smaller than [CodeWord123], and on average women aren't as attractive, although i've run into stunners there. i have usually gotten gfe at jovi, and have run into a couple of real sweethearts, one who i've continued to see after she retired. [CodeWord123] and jovi run about 1000 pesos for an hour. the rooms in both are nice.
anyway, it's pretty easy to check out all three places at the same time if you're so inclined, as they're within walking distance.

Gracias
Two for 700 Pesos? Hmmm, quantity or quality? I got a decent rate ($83 plus tax) at the Hotel Mendoza, sounds like a good combination of what I am looking for. No chicas in the rooms? Not that I want to bring one back but how do they police that, do they ask for ID if you bring a girlfriend back with you? I find it hard to believe that they can enforce that if you dress well, behave yourself and don't bring in a girl that is 15 yrs old wearing a halter top and mini skirt?
I shall try the tour down Lazero Cardenas, sounds like fun. My expereience with clubs has taught me to go during shift changes, when the maximum number of girls are available. Offcourse, the FKK clubs in Germany are open from 10:00 A.M to 5:00 A.M so there has to be two shifts.
Are there any decent nightclubs for freelancers arond the Hotel Mendoza? Any other suggestions for day trips would be appreciated.

Two possible day trips would be to the town of Tequila and to Lake Chapala. If you don't mind spending ALL day (long trip), Guanajuato would be a good destination. Take a look at your guidebook (Lonely Planet or whatever) and see what's of interest to you.

Strip Clubs
Thanks for the great reports, guys. Could you give some names of some of the less expensive SCs? When I treat myself to a trip to Veracruz, I spend about 100 US for FS with some real hotties, which I consider expensive compared to what I pay here in Oaxaca. So, I am looking for a place where it is about 100 US or less. But, if such SCs are dangerous, not sure if I would check them out when I go in a few weeks.
Thanks.

Bundok, they're all over town. Hopefully someone else will weigh in here because I'm not too knowledgeable on this. There are three dives on your left when driving in from the airport. They're all located in about the same place, about a mile or two before you get to Hotel Tapatio (the hotel on top of the big hill right before the cutoffs that go to Tlaquepaque and Tonala). One is named Boom Boom, and I think another is Tejano or Texano. Can't remember the third. I went to all three a couple of years ago. Price for room was $30 and women were about $60 additional. I didn't think the clubs were dangerous. There were only a couple of hotties among the three clubs.

The latest
Carnal,
High Class went up to 550 pesos, 50 US. The selection is questionable, I have declined service my last 2 trips. If you like them large, this is the place for you, but things change all the time.
Of the 3 table dance clubs between the airport and Guad, the Boom Boom is the best. They have cleaned up their act. The crooked waiters have been replaced by polite, smiling waitresses and the girls are there to please. Get there quick, the rainy season is about to begin - you will get wet if it rains.
Also, Mexican men prefer their women grande, but there are a few slim ones. There is a shift change at 9PM. If you get there at 7 or 8, you can arrange an offsite adventure without a house charge.
Gina's, on Lopez Mateos is my personal favotite tb.
Have fun.
