topos...this board is slow because there ain't no action in yokohama lately.
there really hasn't been any reasonable replacement for hinodecho/koganecho. the sws in the area seemed to have rep001tered as well. i only saaw one chinese and several lady boys hanging out the other night. really sad.

Hi Guy`s went to Kawasaki today about 1:30 Not one booth open.

But all the mother fucker soaps still with happy faces.

They are squeesing us into the corner.

I was in Kawasaki a few days ago and I saw a few booths open and got no love at any of the soaps, either. It was a weekday afternoon and there must have been a hundred soapland touts I saw but all of them apologized profusely and sent me on my way. Walked through Koganecho and you wouldn't recognize the place because it also looks like a ghost town.

I wonder how long this nonsense is going to continue. I figured the yakuza and the bureaucrats had a little more power than this but I guess the keisatsucho have more juice right now.

What about the "investors" who laid out the cash to build the new booths in Koganecho? They must be pissed off bigtime.

Sorry for the bad news, but as of June 01, the booths in Kawasaki have been shut down. The "soaps" don't seem to be affected, but hear that they are not gaijin friendly. I briefly spoke with the owner of a booth I frequent, and was told they do not know how long this will last. She was in the process of closing up shop.

Obviously, these booths are not completely shut down - just the way business is handled will change. Will "conduct an investigation" and report!

Thanks for the info. This is consistent with what I saw the other day. This must be brutal for the owners of the booths. The ones in Kawasaki are probably more valuable (in terms of sq metres) than the ones in Koganecho but this whole thing really is a downer. When you say that she doesn't know "how long this will last," did you get any sense that this is termporary?

Hey Homer69,
I asked the very same question to the owner, but she had no idea how long this would last. But given the closure of Koganecho, I think she is preparing for a long break - as she was closing up shop permanently. Looking back, it seems that they may have been expecting this to happen for some time. Last month, they got rid of the Futons and we had to lay out several "zabutons" (cushions) instead!

The owner briefly mentioned plans of opening a shop nearby for beer and fingerfood, but I am unsure how they plan to handle the "dessert" aspect. If you know what I mean. I guess the form of business is simply evolving, but how it will finally manifest itself remains to be seen.

Luckily the lady I always visit was helping close up shop and I got her number!

Visited a "soapland" called Yashima in the same district. Had a girl named Mami for a very routine 50min session. I left feeling like I should have gone elsewhere, but the damage was only JPY12000. I gotta remember that this is not Costa Rica.

This change is a direct result of the crackdown on imported prostitutes operating in the usual places, now shut down. Read the post on 4/29/05 by Robert Munich regarding the Japanese-only change at Mermaid and AAA. This one probably sent a chill through the board after we get the news that Machida, Kawasaki and Koganecho shut down. I've given up on the Yokohama area for now, even though it's more convenient to where I live. I'm guessing that a few foreigners acting like jerks have spoiled it for the rest of us. There is no shortages of a??-holes, some with too much alcohol in them, that totally wreck it for those of us who know how to behave. There was one guy on the Tokyo board a few years ago who sounded like a one-man wrecking crew when it came to his lack of respect and manners when dealing with various establishments. I cringed when this guy went on and on about not getting what he was looking for, demanding things from providers and basically acting like an jerk. He probably set us back ten years with his behavior.

If I do find a good place, I usually keep it to myself or tell fellow mongerers via PM.

I plead with everyone here. If you do find a place and get serviced, please be polite, humble and grateful. I've seen so many places mentioned here that are NGF (not gaijin friendly) soon thereafter. I don't know why these jerks have to ruin it for the rest of us.

I've got to agree with Homer69, having used AAA and Mermaid for many years, I was very disappointed to hear they've had problems with Gaijin. (They both have the same owner). I haven't tried them since the post, however Yokohama is not dead, there are Fashion Health Spas in other areas of the city which service foreigners, I've even received FS at a couple for no extra charge. I'm not going to pass out the locations as I fear the same thing will happen as did with AAA and Mermaid, so don't bother asking. The dedicated mongers will find them if they haven't already and those of you who just want the locations without doing the research need to get out and find these places, then maybe you'll appreciate how difficult it is to find them and gain the respect required to use these establishments.
