Unfortunately your story is somewhat common in Ukraine and applies to other areas of business, not just prostitution. It is right what was said, you can learn Russian, spend years of your life living in Ukraine / Russia but at most you can never claim to understand how russian's mind works. The mentality difference is absolutely vast and it even exists with young people, who never had to wait in those lines for loafs of bread. The issue is that Ukrainians especially have a very hard time grasping such concepts as supply and demand. Again, not speaking about prostitituion only but many spheres of business. They do not understand concepts such as optimizing income based on market conditions at the time.

However, the other thing I would suggest is that it is possible the girl you spoke to simply did not like you. In other words, if a John came up who she liked, she maybe would have quoted a lower price or would be willing to negotiate. This does happen as for many girls this is a part time profession (they are students during the day or whatever) and they suprisingly can be picky with Johns.

What Ukrainians do is to fix an inflated price due to agreement beforehand that bans competition. If a girl insists on 300$, then all girls will do the same because they have agreed on that. Because the girls know each other and know it is better for their buisiness as a whole to keep the price high.

In order to get a lower price you have to introduce to them competition, that is girls from another group which they do not control. The same with taxi drivers.

When they are forced to make competitive offers, all their persistence vanishes and you can get huge discounts because they hate that the other part (not controlled by them) will be benefited.

After the 1st night and recovering from my hangover we headed out to try this city once again.

Started off at a bar/restaurant called 'Chocolate'. Beautiful women inside and very packed. We really just came there to eat which was a mistake because the food was only decent and it was hard to order with our waitress (she did not understand English) and the service was slow. However, I would highly recommend this bar as a great place to start off the evening. Didn't seem to see any working girls, mostly just good looking regular ladies.

We ended up deciding to go to club 'Tsar' after dinner. The club is a very interesting design. It's built into what sort of looks like an old cathedral. When you enter you go down into sort of a cave like atmosphere but very nice. Not that large but still good enough. We ended up getting a table and our lack of Local language ended up costing us here. We started with this large table in the corne which was they said was 1000 HRK (but this money goes towards drinks). We decided this was ok and just to go for it. About 5 minutes later the table next to us (same size) but closer to view of dance floor opened up and we decided to move there. Much better view and what was not know to us. Also a much higher price. They did not tell us until the end but the table was now 2000 HRK. Jesus! Anyway we ended up finding 2 very good looking ladies who joined us at the table and we drank, danced and smoked a hookah! Of course this was fine until we were ready to leave and we saw the bill. Up until this point I was trying to drink expensive drinks (like Chivas 21yr Royal Solute) just to make up the 1000 we thought we had to pay. When we asked for check we were told that we only used 1000 of the 2000 we had to pay. Boy I am on a streak now (and not a good one)! Well in the end we were able to get 2 nice bottles of French wine to take home with us. Still I was not very happy.

So I think it was 6a. M. Now and of course now the girls want to eat. By the way, we were having fun with the girls and we were getting a little action but nothing good to write about here. I was figuring that we wouldn't get much on the 1st night anyway. So we ended up going to a place called "Miami". Now if your in the mood for late night (or early morning) fare then this is a good place. Food was pretty good. But I was exhausted and ready to head back. Of course we tried to get the girls back with us, but they claimed they needed to head home. I was sort of expecting this so I was not that upset. Too tired anyway.

So once again. Night 2 without any luck. I think I am cursed in this country. Probably have to hit to Playboy massage or something to just have some kind of experience here! But for now I am finishing this up so we can head out and try once more. Will probably just end up at the Arena watching the football games. This time I will keep my camera much better guarded!

My hats off to all you guys who have success here. So far no luck for me! Dreams of Latin America are becoming stronger!

RP has been covered ad nausem in this forum. A couple of years ago it was a good place to meet p4p girls, now that is no longer the case. It's become more of a lifestyle for the girls. Before you used to see couples leaving all the time. Now you occasionally see people hooking up. The pro's have their regulars and they work other clubs too. Heck a lot of my buddies have been driven back to their apartments by girls who have their own cars. When the economy crashes things will be back to normal.

This really has nothing to do with the 'Russian mentality' this is just they way working girls are.

It's too bad I'm in Sevastopol now, otherwise I would join you at Arena, Unborn. The Giants are going to kick the Cowboys ass. ;)

Just got my 401K 4th QTR statement, and 95% of what I contributed has vanished into the air. This quarter was worse than the one following 9/11.

Anybody have opinions on good, reliable apartment service in Kiev?

Not much to report today. After the late night at Tsar we ended up sleeping most of the day away. Finally got out to go watch the football game. Would you believe that The Arena was not showing the game? I even had them hand me the remote so I could look through all the channels. Boy, could this trip get worse? Anyway we went to Premier Palace and checked out their sports bar. Again no luck. Had their conceirge call around 4 places and no one was showing the game. Unbelievable!

We decided to try find the Playboy Massage parlour and had a cab take us to the address. Of course, our luck holds true and we can't find the place. Found the address and even the number that was listed but it was a Toy shop. Hahaha gotta love the irony. Anyway close by where we were was the Penthouse Stripclub. Decided to give it a whirl. A waste of time really but I guess the girls were still pretty cute. Well at least 2 of them were. 1 really gave a great poll dance. I was thinking, man if this chick made it to Vegas she would be rich!

Anyway we still had small hopes trying to get the ending of the Indi game. Went to the Hyatt hotel. The concierge there finally found us a place showing the game. So for all you in Kiev who are looking for NFL football (outside of Arena which doesn't seem reliable) then check out this Irish Pub called "Golden Gate". It was walking distance from Hyatt hotel. Nice place, lots of flat screens and ALL were playing the NFL game. Of course, once again my luck in the Ukraine holds true because we walk in the door about 1 minute after the last play for the Indi game. Heheheh This is actually getting quite funny! In such situations you have to at least maintain a sense of humor on such bad luck.

Well at least we waited to watch the Boys game which I was more interested in anyway. Still waiting to see what happens. 4:31 seconds left and the boys are down by 4 but are driving the field. So far a good game.

Cruiser. Would have been cool to meet you and watch the game. Hope your having luck in Sevestopol. But seeing all your posts you seem to be a pretty seasoned veteran in these areas. So bang a girl one extra time for me also. I am having no luck!

Lastly, even tried to change my flight to return 1 day earlier and just leave tomorrow. Wouldn't you know it. Monday is the 1 day that Delta does not have a flight to JFK. Hahaha. Classic!

There are a couple of sport bars in Kiev that show NFL games. Also River Palace has always been able to accommodate me for the last four years when I needed to see an NFL game, I think I watched one Super Bowl in Arena but otherwise haven't had much luck there with the NFL. If you are looking for a hotel that will provide you with top notch western service the Hyatt and then the Radission are the only places to go. Hey, what about the G-men and Dallas..;) The Giants are surging and the Cowboys were going flat - I had a feeling NY was going to win. The Patriots and Giants in the Superbowl? My two favorite NFL teams..what to do..what to do. Yeah, Kiev is a tough city to come in cold. I have some fairly outstanding luck in Kiev but it seems to be exception rather then the rule. It probably doesn't help that this is the worst time of the year to come to Kiev too. Everyone is all partied out after the holidays. Primetime in Kiev is the spring and the fall. Tsar is an old Kiev city motor car maintenance repair building.


My luck in Sevastopol has been interesting to say the least. If I get around to it I might post something about it. Including my midnight drive through most of eastern Ukraine. Poltava, Dniper, Donestk, Mariupol. Wow, when people talk about the gross pollution in the industrial east they aren't kidding.

Bez, look for the world economy to crash when W is leaving office. When we find out what a complete and total mess we are in because of him and his pack of jackals.

Nice call on the Giants... I saw the Cowboys coming in flat as well, but still thought they'd pull it out. I was for the Cowboys, cuz I think they'd have had a better chance against the Pats.

Pats are going to destroy SD. Packers-Giants should be a good game... I see the Pack winning though.

Means Small Berries and is a name of a Disco out of the center. There is no metro close and it is located in what many Ukrainians laugh at: Troechina district!

Had a chance to go there Saturday night with my girl and another Ukrainain couple. NICE place, it is actually part of a well known 'chain' here in Kyiv.

100 grivna for a couple to enter, the place was full so we ended up just on the dance floor. Guys, this place was full of women! A quick calculation and I would say it was 70 / 30 % gals to guys. And the guys all seemed to be locals already hooked up! The bar was lined with 'babes'! I did not see another foreign guy!

Now since I was with 'Eagle Eyes Oksana' AND did not need any problems I stayed a good boy, so I can't attest to the availability. But it always seems to me that when I am single in a place there is no one interested, when I go with a chick THERE ARE 20 GALS AFTER ME. Ha!

3 young ones at a table close to us came and literally grabbed me so they could take photos with me. It was her birthday. Why me? Oh well, I had to tell Oksana they were former students of mine! She 'bit'!

Then there was another goup of single gals dancing next to me and the blonde in the short skirt keeps bumping into my ass, or was it the other way around?

Bottom line, I will return to this place ALONE! It really felt like Candy Land! Band was good. Many english songs. Then a DJ took over.

Give it a try when you get tired of the 'Center Queens'!
