Friday I had a nice surprise when a blonde Medellin girl (Shanara- or something close to that) asked to go to her room instead of her the normal cabina at LA 20. Clinica Doctor Amor. Open 9 AM to 9 PM. The woman I spoke says everyone works those hours, so it doesn't matter when you come in. But I wouldn't walk it late at night, too many bad boys on the street. Cali does seem safer than Bogota especially compared to the Santa Fe area.

San Antonio neighborhood is a nice area to visit but I wouldn't want to stay there. That Café Macondo is worth stopping in and having coffee or a drink and looking at the pictures on the wall. There is jazz played at night. But its too far from the action on Ave. Sexta and the Granada area.

9's and 10's I can't help you with. Its all subjective to each monger.

I plan on visiting Cali for 2 or 3 weeks in June / July this year.

I am planning to study Spanish there but I want to enjoy the playful delights of the city too.

So I wonder if anyone can give me some recommendations on the place suburbs of the city to locate oneself for easy access to the nightlife and casas etc. Hotel names would help too.

I saw the Google map and can see the concentrations of flags, espec around San Vicente (north of the river) and along Carr 8, but are those appropriate places to stay for a few weeks?
