Reading the Fucking Forums
I don't want to argue with you guys. I'm strictly a "to each his own" person, but I do know a little about Sosua having visited and lived here for 17 years, or so.
I've learned that posting anything positive about Sosua in this forum, brings out the jaded mongers who can't seem to adapt to the new realities, and make it work for them. They are living in the past, while life is passing them by. They really should take their own advice and move on, but they like their comradery here with the like minded, and so they stick around, looking for confirmation of their views. Of course we all know that if you spend enough time looking for something, you'll find it! LOL.
I'm not a member of "the hypocritical sexpat anti Passport Bro crowd" and I don't "drink coolade". As you can see, I'm a minority of one here in this forum!
But to recap, Sosua is a small town on a tropical Island in the Caribbean on the North Coast. It is a mere 4 miles from the International Airport in Puerto Plata, and 3 to 4 hours flying time from the major hubs in the Eastern USA And Canada. Weather's good, the people are friendly, the political system is stable. There is no street protests, arson or looting every time somebody is arrested. The tourists are quite safe if they behave in a civilized manner.
It's actually the most visited Island in the Caribbean, and has the best thriving economy. DR is setting visitor records in 2025, and in addition to newly increased flights into PO (WestJet, Breeze Airlines), a lot of Americans fly into SD and Santiago and work their way up to the North Coast. It's a favorite of many Europeans, Germans, Dutch, Scandinavian who know a little about the sex business. LOL.
There are some beautiful girls in the DR, of every shape and every color of the rainbow, perfect for those of us who find Thai and Philippine girls lacking in those areas.
Prostitution is legal, so it is just an occupational choice, like a nurse or a cleaner. It is tolerated, even encouraged by the laid back locals and hotels and restaurants that benefit by the business.
Now, if you know anything about real estate, you know it's all about location, location, location, and Sosua has it! Relatively undeveloped, with cheap labor, it is a very attractive proposition for investors. I talk to them every day!
The only fly in the ointment is the bad rep cheap mongers and hoes, have given it. So. As I said before, the fight for control rests with the local businessmen and the outside investors, and the government is trying to make both sides happy, but money always wins out! So it's not at all. "what matters is what Native born Dominicans want".
But back to our hobby.
Since prostitution is a legal choice of work, there's a good chance that the full timers will carry on their business, but a little more discreetly, and the part timers who moonlight, in the stores, banks, malls and lined up on a Sunday in the local colmado will be open to a hola from a clean respectful guy!
It works for many of us, even at our advanced age!
Have at it! LOL.
I'm going to make a long series of posts on this subject that will provide context but I'm not sure it would pertain to you.
Bottom Line up Front.
If you're a weekend warrior type you should NOT go to Sosua!
Someone who goes this weekend looking for sea sand sun and sex will not find the latter BECAUSE he DOESN"T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK.
I provided detailed information about my first trip to the DR and the first women I met there. Like you I met a chica that worked at the Burger King at the food court of Agora Mall with the DR's job situation she's probably still there so with 17 years boots on ground You probably know by face every Sosua resident and certainly any and everyone in El Batey.
I'm also a Colombian expat and when people say come to the city I live in I tell them "If you want to come to Colombia on a first trip" You should go to the DR. Why because in Cali there's no official red light district well there is but it's controlled by gangsters.
I go there with nary an issue there was a monger who went there and got robbed. So I love Cali and can roll out the reasons I live here and why it's great and it's also increased tourism dramatcally.
But I cannot recommend it to the average especially newbie Monger.
To illustrate the point I literally got a text from a chica who was "stranded" in a town not far from here who needed funds to come back so I sent her the money.
She texted last night asking "when are we going to have a threesome?" I said we could do that but I'll pay the new chica the standard fare (25 usd) and I'll pay you half and half the next time you come to settle the debt.
I'm not bragging I'm an Expat so I don't go looking for pussy pussy comes to me. The new girl if good will be added to the rotation. Kinda hard to do that if you're down here on a three day bender not knowing how to say No in the local Pig Latin.
Hope this Helps.
Trip.
