Pattaya sounds like Putt-a-yar
In Patts it's only 1,000 so I was thinking 1,500.
I have noticed guys like referring to Pattaya as Patts. It is fine if that is what western guys like to use when conversing, however I advise do not use it with Thai people, in general, and it seems strange to me, being a Thai speaker.
I presume you guys pronounce it as though it rhymes with "bats" (I have never actually heard it). The Patt on the front of Pattaya does not rhyme with "Bat", rather rhymes with "Butt".The correct vowel sound makes a lot of difference in Thai language (while it does not in English). Thais using English words ending in letter "s" usually drop the S as they can't pronounce nor hear it well. Therefore Patts would not be very recognisable to the average Thai person at all. My GF had no clue at all.
I hope at least, most of you avoid to say Pat-THAI-ya. That is a nonsense pronunciation, even though I did hear westerners use it plenty of times. Thais may well understand this one since they heard it pronounced this wrong way so many times.
