That was a sad day for me.:( The Happy Hippi had the best consistent weed. It still was poor compared to California, but a lot better than the horrible crap that is on the streets.

The farming operation (where they put the plants under lights for part of the day to get the required veg / flower cycle) must still be around. Wondering where they're dumping the products. I would appreciate it if someone would post or PM me the info. I arrive in mid November.

But there is still open smoking in many of the tourist areas. From personal experiences and info from other forums, the marijuana possession laws are still laxed and not enforced.

That bar owner you mentioned previously was busted for meth, which is a hard dangerous drug. There is a crackdown, but that is for the hard drugs. But note that the hard drug scene is still going to be "happening". Cambodia still is going to be "easy". How can the cops crack down on the traffickers when they are some of the biggest dealers around (that is a fact).

Of course there can be exceptions. Never say never; things can change.

I wouldn't flaunt it. I would be discrete and enjoy.

Although now it seems that many places are now charging extra for the weed on the pizza. Before it was free. You can also ask for it "extra happy"; although then I thought the weed taste was too noticeable.

From a heavy duty stoner's perspective, the problem with the happy pizzas is that the weed they use is even worst than the stuff you get on the street.

Good / bad thing about Cambodia is that they have cheap priced women:), but cheap quality weed:(.

The quality of the girls in the Phnom Penh bar scene are so so.

You may get lucky or not, there are some very sick girls out there.

General speaking I think the quality of the girls are better in Bangkok massage places.

Generally speaking, a lot of things are better in LOS than in PP.

- Khmer food is rather bland. Even though the food choice got better in the recent years. Now PP has many foreign restaurants, but you have to pay for it. In PP I have never eaten Asian food as good and as cheap as in BKK. Even the soup you get in BKK at the street restaurants at entrance at Soi Cowboy is better than most food you get in PP and in PP you'll have pay much more for quality.

- You get better accommodation in BKK than in PP. In PP a simply furnished room (tv, aircon, shower, bathtub, window, tiled floor) costs almost as much as a room in in BKK boutique hotel (TV, DVD, fancy bathroom, free DSL internet, free breakfast, nice carpet, mini bar).

- Nightlife _outside_ P4P is much more fun in BKK. You can go to these huge music halls with life music, cinema in English language, open air restaurants (shabu shabu style, were you grill you food yourself) , e. G. With the right girl (s) you can have lot of fun.

- Bars in PP:

The negatives:

- Hostess bars.

I am not a brothel type and I don't like neither Martini's nor Viet Girls there and at other places.

In PP I liked to pick up freelancers at Sharky's, Heart, e. G. But during my last trip I didn't see any girl I liked at Sharkey's.

Now the PP scene is dominated by the hostess bars in which many girls don't go with customers. I learnt this the hard way at Zanizibar around 2008, when I met the girl of my dreams. She really was the one I was most interested in during this trip. We had a fun evening, I paid a lot of lady drinks for her and her friends and when I wanted to leave with her she said no. It was my most expensive evening in SE-Asia ever without se and most annoying.

The PP girls are becoming mercenary. During my first trips 2004-8, I had the problem that the girls didn't want to leave, now they are in a hurry.

- Now showing.

The moral crusade by the Khmer government has toned down everything. No Coyote dancing, no showing. You don't get to see a bellybutton anymore. You'll have to by the pig in poke. During my recent trips I got girls with sagging tits and / or birthmarks, e. G.

Compare this for example to Soi Cowboy in BKK: Several bars show full nuditiy. You can really choose the girl with a body you like. You know that the girl is going with you.

The positives:

- Khmer girls.

I really like Khmer girls, their smiles, and their often fuller breasts and better proportioned bodies, compared to Thai girls.

- The price.

P4P is much cheaper than in BKK. In BKK I pay usually 2000 THB plus Barfine = ca. 80 USD. In PP it is like 30 USD (LT plus Barfine).

I guess I will skip PP during my next trip. Even though P4P is more expensive in BKK, I just have more fun in BKK.

A small but very clean and comfortable, well-furnished room in one of the many new 'guesthouses' all around Phnom Penh (for example, the Central Market area) is usually about $15 / night. That's B450, for which you'd be lucky to find a mattress in Bangkok.

PP food (pizza and hamburgers) and accommodation are cheaper than in BKK, and I think the accommodation are of a good standard.

You have no taxi in PP (there is some taxi but hard to find) , only tuk tuk this is negative for PP.

Also about my earlier post I kind of liked the girls at Zapata bar but charging me very high barfine or lady drinks was not very nice.

I think the best place for me is where I can play my own music (ipod) and have the bar for myself with some ladyfriends.

BTW, Voo Doo next to Zapata is one of my favs. Recently changed owner and I have not had a negative experience in that place. Golden Vine is too popular it seems lately for my liking.

Just east about half a block, towards the river, there is a restaurant that occupies two storefronts. Can't tell you the name because it's all in Kmer, but the food and the eye candy is excellent. I go there for an oyster dish, seafood fried rice and a jug of beer. Cost just over 6 bucks and enough for two.
