You say , few of them there , long wait etc. Looks like yet another ingenious idea of the Filipinos is about to crash. They can start , but they can not sustain , unfortunately. That's nitpicking, KongKing, particularly since I am sure you knew perfectly wellwhat he meant. It may not be listed in the abbreviations but this is what abbreviations says under cowgirl:
Cowgirl CG, girl on top facing you.

The new yellow cabs are great. Half the price of the coupon taxis... I usually arrive about 4-5pm..never seen a line..never had to wait at all.

In fact, amazing fact. Im usually one of first off economy, usually no immgration line at that time, have no checked baggage to collect, 15 secs to get in a yellow cab, and usually Im in my condo in Global city within 20- 25 mins from plane landing. Even faster than Singapore airport when you have no checked in baggage.

Terminal 2 is the same as any other. Just start walking with the flow of traffic (to the right) and you'll never get more than 100 meters from the terminal before an empty taxi who just dropped his passenger will proposition you. He cannot stop long to bargain, so just offer meter and as soon as he says OK throw your gear in the back seat and off you go.

You will not get the slip of paper with drivers license number but you yourself can jot it down once in the taxi. Get DRIVERS name from his ID, not just cab #. Taxis lose their permit if they get several complaints so just stick to the agreement if they whine about traffic etc and a tip. Better not to even discuss it again until you and your gear are out of the taxi.

At the risk of igniting the great taxi flame war again.. I'd like to add a comment.

I spend a lot of time using taxi's in Manila (and elsewhere).

In my experience the yellow meter taxi's are costing me MORE on average to get from the airport to a hotel compared to the usual method of haggling a fixed price in a conventional street taxi. The last yellow meter cab I caught, there was a loonngg queue to stand in with much waiting, the driver sat in the car & left me to drag my luggage in to the back seat with me & the GF. The seating in the back of a Toyota sedan is small to start with, worse with baggage. The cab meandered around all over the the bloody place until I scolded him in Tagalog & told him I knew we were so stop stuffing about & go where we asked him to. My GF chimed in, he played the dumb newbie cabbie so we both told him directions very clearly where to go.. meanwhile the meter was ticking away...

Street taxi's I negotiate the fare & off we go. No need to keep an eye on which route the driver is taking.

Since often I have a girl in tow & luggage. Many times I prefer a nice comfortable roomy 'coupon taxi' people mover, no waiting, just pay & get in. These guys take care of your bags & let you get on with the important business of checking the various body cavities of your girl of moment while taking a leisurely drive to the hotel. The driver will take the best route based on traffic conditions & there is no pressure to watch where he is going because the fare is already paid.

If you are new to Manila it is harder because you don't know how much the fare should be & that is understandable. Bringing a chick with you is often not much help because a lot of these chicks from internet dating sites (for example) are from the province & live in a very small world of their local Manila barangay. Like all asians, to save face, they will act as if they know where they are going but dont count on it. Get yourself a Citymap street atlas from National Bookstore (p350?) & find your own way around yourself.

For anyone who is even a little familiar with Manila I have found you can do better MOST TIMES avoiding the Yellow meter taxi's at NAIA.

Yes I definitely agree with you but thats not the case at the new terminal. (Cebu Pacific) The line for the yellow cabs was lengthy because a taxi would only happen by every now and again.(about a 45 minute wait that day!) So I had no choice but to take a white, fixed price taxi. :mad:

Not nitpicking Vittu, just seeking clarification. Abbreviations can lead to ambiguity.

I have tried CG a number of times but its good old MP that does the trick!

If the wait was going to be that long, then I would get a regular meter taxi that dropped off someone at the airport. They'll be happy to use their meter as getting a fare out of there is tougher than before with the new taxis. I don't know what all the fuss is about with negotiating fares with metered taxis. If they want to negotiate, then let him go. There's another taxi right behind who will use his meter.

No can do because this was at the arrivals level with no clear way to get upstairs to the departure level.
