Anyway on a slightly different angle on naming names I would like to put forward two recent incidents which are worth bearing in mind if anyone is in any way wary of someone finding out about their extra-curricular activities.

The first occurred a month or two back when I was getting a massage, not a "bersih sehat" massage, but not a knocking shop "massage meester?" massage. It was in a spa in one of the main hotels, the usual thing, a massage and then the offer of "extras" if so desired. So my masseuse was going about her thing, asking me all the usual questions and me giving her all the usual vague answers, the one thing I did give correctly was the suburb I lived in. It's a fairly well know suburb and many expats live there. But lo and behold my girl thought for a moment and said "Your wife's name is X?"

Holy shit! I nearly popped out of my skin, she knew my better half's name, which isn't particularly common, thankfully I stayed calm and said no, she then went on to mention another expat who lived near me and asked was I him, well this time I agreed and said yes I was he. I not unnaturally asked her how she knew this and she explained she used to work as a receptionist for a business that indeed my wife used. Well the upshot was I tipped her well, told her I'd be back and glad to use her services in the future but she mustn't ever say anything to anybody, she looked surprised and replied that she was hardly going to tell anybody what her current job was. Satisfied I was in the clear I let the matter rest and I have heard nothing since.

However let that be a reminder to you, never tell the girls the truth about anything, not your name, your job, where you come from, where you live, nothing, at the end of the day it's none of their business and Jakarta is a much smaller town than you think.

To back that up let me tell you about an incident from the other day, where I was entertaining a new friend I'd met on the internet. Quite clearly a player we got down to business straight away. At the end of it she also asked me did I know "XY"? As it happens I didn't but the gentleman in question has a distinct Scottish name, the girl then went on to describe the guy and the company he works for (a well known firm employing ex-pats in Indonesia). More than that however she then told me about what he likes to do, who he likes to do it with and how many times a week and where he does it.

All too much info for me and I have no plan to meet this chap but it just goes to show, don't assume your little partners are the souls of discretion, many of them aren't and are happy to blabber your private affairs to the next guy she meets.

I must agree with Dorman's comments which as usual are 100% sound. I have had numerous "near misses" over the years, not just as a result of careless talk but careless actions: leaving business cards around for example, allowing girls to see the company name on your laptop and that's just two examples - hands up if you've never done it!

From his perspective, I'd be less worried about fellow ISG mongers (we are mostly harmless, merely horny), but very worried about any 'preman' (thug) contacts the girl might have. But there's a 'happy ending': they are married far away from Jakarta, at least for now.

This was fine, except that I'd been home with wife and kids the previous night. Turns out some supplier who I'd met the previous day had gone round bars introducing himself as me. Bastard had even given my card to the pretty one he stayed with. Interesting approach. But impossible to explain to wife if ever got out.

If all goes well I'll be there in the month of April next year. Just curious about the local custom regarding herbal refreshement. In LOS it is quite on the down low due to stiff penalties, though its not hard to find if you are careful. Is it the same in Jakarta? PM if need be....Thanks........LDP

I'm torn between thinking it's hilariously funny and thinking it's in very, very bad taste. On occasion, I've felt like I should point it out to the person with the appropriated name - but I just can't quite bring myself to tell him. Well, no-one would believe it was really him posting under his own name, so I suppose no harm done ...

Could any of you esteemed Jakarta hands recommend a website either local or international where I might search to find a young couple where the lady might share her various orifices with me and said husband for financial inducement?
