Make an appointment at the immigration office. It's in Belen, kind of difficult to find, but taxi should have no problem getting you there. I think you need to bring copies of your passport main page and entry stamp. They'll look things over, give you a bill to take to the bank. Go to the bank, pay the bill, get the receipt stamped. Then return to the immigration office and they'll update your entry stamp for another 90 days.

Getting the student visa is more complicated. First you need to pay in advance for 3 months of classes to get a 6 month visa. The university will probably require proof of international health insurance. I think I paid about $250 per quarter.

Once you've paid for classes they'll give you the paperwork you need. In addition you'll need copies of your passport and entry stamp and 6 months of statements from your bank account. There's an average monthly balance you need to exceed. I can't remember how much, but it's a multiple of the Colombian minimum wage. You'll also need to write a letter accepting financial responsibility to get out of the country when your time is up.

All the paperwork needs to be submitted online, through the immigration website. Then you need to go to the immigration office in Bogota. You'll have to first pay a research fee, you can do that inside the immigration office. Then they'll look things over, give a brief interview and give you the bill to pay for the visa. Go back to the cashier, pay, go back and get your Visa.

Afterwards you have 15 days to apply for your cedula de extrañjeros. To do that you'll need to go to a clinic and get a blood type certificate. I think I paid 9,300, COP for the blood test. Took 30 minutes to get the results.

Pretty easy process. I managed it all on my own.
