It's not bad in daytime, but getting from Jomtien to Pattaya at night is no fun. I saw lots of people walking down Thappraya Road last night, as the baht buses were mostly full.

I recall he said he has paid in 500-1200 range depending on quality and other conditions of the transaction, typically 700-1000ST. Presumably no inflation there.

For them it is essential for their survival, consequently professionally managed.

At least in my experience the true spread in this business here is rarely over 50% (actual vs asking), though of course happens esp in LT arrangements with regulars like MrE friend's case as an example. Long-term supply arrangements should lead to price lower than spot transactions, however looming cash crisis (like low cash balance and rent or car payment in few days) create spot ST opportunities at times. And substantially elevated asking price actually often means seller not really interested to sell to the particular buyer. Recall buying jeans in Silk Market in Beijing where asking price was close to 10 times of the actual sales price (for locals who knew the market), tourists paid somewhere in-between based on their knowledge of market, affordability, and interest to participate the haggling. Very different price spread.
