Doesn't make it right, but you are in THEIR world when you're here. There is no point in getting hypertensive about their behavior, it is what it is. They have a very laid back attitude in this country. Its great when its in our favor but when that attitude goes against us just chill out & focus on the next thing.

Instead of going to bars & cold bloodedly choosing women like a meat market & giving them a job interview, a behavior that goes against their fantasy of being human beings... I cruise around and see what chicks come on to me. If I dont like them I don't engage them. If I like I like them I either get their number for later or go see the mamasan & seal the deal.

These girls lose face when you haggle the price down (but obviously know your prices before you go in) and they (and everybody else in ear shot) lose face even worse when you make a runkus later.

I've never had a runner so I cant understand why people have this problem. I guess it boils down to 'make sure the girl like you before you go off with her'. This is not Thaliand. The 'GF' experience is famous here. The flip side is dont treat them like hookers & they won't treat you like a 'John'.

Its a funny old place, but you'll get the hang of it! ;)

Here is some additional info speaking with driver from Lewis Grand. It was actually him who rushed the poor American to the hospital. He was sad he could not be saved despite their efforts and him driving down Perimeter at one point nearly 160km/h. This was possible as the event occurred at about 4am in the morning and traffic was light. The security at the Lewis Grand hotel was also alerted by the presence of a girl, they reckon it was his barfine (BF) who later disappeared. They suspect the perpetrator was a jealous boyfriend of his BF fueled by drugs. The driver said he saw lacerations on his hands, consistent with a confrontation and the fatal American trying to defend himself, not a drive by shooting as the report suggests. The American was not a guest at Lewis Grand. As a tourist is killed, the NBI is now involved as they have no tolerance for crimes against tourist.

People say there are no cherry girls in bars & basically that is true.

In my experience the girls with the big red 'V' and the big price tag are NOT virgins, just part of what the the bar offers in the hope of making a buck.

I've had a lot of girls here in this country P4P & non. In my experience very VERY few of the girls who enter the P4P bar scene are virgins. Even if she is a virgin, a girls virginity is a private thing between her & the john. Its not something she advertises. The vast majority of girls in P4P have already been burned by a pinoy BF or two (usual) or even a traveling monger (sometimes).

When a girl says she is cherry it really means she (in order of likelihood) :

a) Does not like you. (and does not want to lose face saying so)
b) Menstruating.
c) Has an (untreated) STD which makes it painful for her to have sex.
d) Has an emotional attachment to another guy (sponsor).
e) Although not a 'virgin' by any stretch of the imagination, is new to the P4P scene & has not performed sex for money with a John (yet).

I don't get the fascination with paying to hurt a woman?
If she really IS a virgin, it is not going to be a pleasant experience for her to have sex with a total stranger for money on an emotional, social or physical level the first time.

I have had GF's who were virgins.. some take to it like a duck to water after their first pop but most take a lot of time & patience to get to liking it.

It did more seem to me to be creative writing with the intent to discredit his posts for whatever reason after reading his posts. I did take the time to read back more than several pages during my lunch, and found that indeed his posts are factual and I have been going to AC for over 20 years. I remember when it used to be fun

What it appears is that his posts are often taken out of context and turned into a negative, when in fact they are very informative as you had even said was the case, why then would they not be of value to other men. I will not speculate that it is bar owners trying to louse up another good board, but will say that selling losing bars has long been the means of income for the owners there and this has been going on long before the internet ever existed. I certainly think they may take more than a look at these sites from time to time IMHO.

Either way as for AC, would I go again? Well if it were on the way or on a layover I may take the time to go there, but honestly it is really discouraging to have to weed through the stories and drink hustles to try and find one girl to have sex in a bar. It used to be much different, but now I would much rather stay in Manila and just do a LA CAFÉ or EDSA run.

The world is much to small to only go to one place and I do agree that anyone saying that AC is the best place you can go just has not traveled to other places.

You USED to be able to bargain on bf at EDSA if they knew you but the 1400 is pretty firm nowadays even for regulars, then the girl will want the same amount. So you are out 2800 and still need to rent a room give a tip etc, yet on Santos Street (Blow Row) in Balibago you can still find very nice ST girls for 700 TOTAL including use of room.

So where in Quezon or Manila can you get a better deal than that? You seem to say quite frequently how lousy Angeles is nowadays, enough that your views are well known here, so how about sharing the info on all the better places you have found so everybody else quits wasting time in Angeles!

And you have taken an obscure figure few (including me) had ever heard of, Dave Fisher, and made him a household name with all your rants blaming him for single handedly ruining Angeles. They say there is no such thing as bad publicity, so you are helping him promote his business by talking about him all the time.

Also, the murder of the American by Lewis Grand Hotel is concerning, but it is quite a stretch to argue that stretch between LGH and Garfield's is so dangerous locals only walk it at night when armed is quite the hyperbole. "Taxis" may be hard to get in the evening on Perimeter LOL, but there are still jeeps and a trike is never more than a few moments walk away.

On a brighter note, Amavida has been making some excellent posts for which I commend him.

What I was getting at needs to be looked at in context of the comments of the previous posters.

There were two themes:

First, people who had been to AC many times before were reporting bad habits creeping in to some establishments - and they had not experienced those bad habits before. ie it is nothing to do with this guy and that guy as you are saying - it is everything to do with the same guy noticing negative changese. I would also say that while there are those who are not that bright and so therefore cannot make a judgement for the reasons you outline, I think you do the majority here a disservice. Most of us CAN read between the lines, sort out the nonsense reports from obvious nutty posters, and the good gear from regular reporters.

The other theme was that from the local who referred to the two week millionaires. All I was trying to point out is that if enough locals write in with info about bad bars (I can understand if they want to keep the good ones for themselves), then some of us two week millionaires will have a better time, and also help the locals by making sure that the crappy bars get less money. As another poster pointed out, the two week millionaires, by their sheer weight of numbers make AC possible. So educating those TWM's and steering them away from crappy bars helps everybody in the town.

Of course it often boils down to a matter of opinion, but as I said before, there are enough of us who actually can sort out the nutty posters and bar owner posters that would value the information. eg if I got three or four reliable posters saying that XYZ bar had ladies demanding a tip up front, that would be enough for me that I would not put a piso into their till.

PS Ekspat - I hate you. Reason: you are in AC, and I am not. Grrrr!

i understand what you are saying, but from my perspective. i have many expat friends in ac but would not use any recommendations about bars without checking it out for myself. most expats are what i would call cheap, they live there, and can take their time to hunt down a woman.

being there for 2 weeks we have more money to spend. i don't mind buying ladies drinks, even for those i have no intention of bf. sometimes i just want the silly attention they supply. so for someone to tell me they were turned off by women asking for drinks well thats their problem as far as i'm concerned.

until they say the bar has girls stealing from you (i. e pickpockets), drugging your drinks, or running **** scams. now those are legitimate reasons to stay away. other than those i would probably have to check it out for my self. i take enough to accomodate lds into my budget.

some guys like to stay at the lewis grand, or abc hotels spending stateside prices for a room. i prefer to stay in more modest accomodations and spend my money having fun with the women. i've been to ac for over 15 years and cannot name a single bar that i have considered off limits. one trip it may be lousy with ugly girls the next its loaded with just what i like. the atmosphere changes in these bars almost from day to day.

go ahead and stay away from as many you like. that will just leave me with a bar load of women to choose from. i thank you now in advance. and please let me those bars so i"ll be sure to check them out.

And yes they do have a big shabu problem in the PI. Alot of the girls in AC use Shabu. Its been a problem since the late 90's and only getting worst.

Anyone would know anywhere there are a lot of young people with low self esteem, working in a decadent profession by society standards, with money to spare is a breeding ground for drug use.

Two weeks in the Philippines and I don't think I've ever spent more than $8,000 (ticket included). Even using yen, which I sometimes do, I don't come close to the two-week millionaire club.
