Bill Miami makes some good observations on the Beach Road situation, like the unfortunate increase in lowlife Thai males along the beach (actually the wholetown) in the past 3 years.

Regarding the girls there, sure alot of them are messed up and couldn't work in bar if they wanted to. But I've questioned alot of them on why they don't want to work in a bar, including go-go quality girls.

And the main reasons are they don't want to be commited to a schedual and

They have problems with the other girls in the bar "talking to much"

In general these are pretty rowdy ladies and it doesn't take much to set off a fight.

Also there is a constant ebb and flow of girls from all over that cruise down to work on the beach for a few days, weeks or months: holidaday hookers.

I'm getting this info from a family member - not my own personal experience.

I think that a wily old Bangkok taxi driver summed it up when we were discussing Pattaya. 'Full old lady, no can make money Bangkok'. Next time you are eating breakfast at your hotel, look up from your cornflakes and actually see some of the horror stories that the average tourist Joe travels half way around the world to poke. On second thoughts don't, it will put you off your food:).

The rating system can be safely thrown out of the window for about 70% of Pattaya providers - unless minus ratings are permitted.

After seeing pics of the "famous"Na in the gallery, I finally ran into her, but came away from the experiance disappointed. She is very HARDCORE! I've just spent my first week in Pattaya, with one more to go, and it has so far been an interesting experience to say the least. I am not a good writer, and this might be a boring read for most, but I just wanted to express my thoughts on my trip so far.

As a total newbie for the first couple days, I ended up overpaying for everything. On the first night, I ended up going to a bar that was just across the street from my hotel (Eastiny Plaza). Like the nice guy I am, having a hard time saying no, I ended up buying several rounds of drinks for any lady that asked, and I also ended up barfining a girl from there. All rookie mistakes I now know. Now I have to pass by everyday when going back to my hotel, and they are constantly trying to drag me back into their bar so they can charge me outrageous lady drink prices of 160 baht per drink. At first I was stupid enough to go in each time, now no more. Unfortunately, first couple days I also overpaid for the women. Day 1: soapy massage on soi 2 for 2500 baht, soi 8 girl LT for 1500 baht barfine + girl. Day 2: soi 6 girl LT for 2000 baht! Yeah I probably should have done a little more research in advance, but I was just too excited to get out the gate.

On Day 3 I started realizing that if they like you enough, you don't have to pay anything for the girls. The combination of being Asian, American-born, decent looking, and in my 20s put me in good standing with most thai girls. Apparently there are not that many Asian Americans who take vacations to Pattaya, so they loved the American accent on a decent looking Asian man (whom maybe they could identify better with than a non-asian)? I don't know if it is those factors, but I am thinking that if you are younger and decent looking, no matter the race, you could probably have practically a free sex holiday in Pattaya. I realized this on day 3 when a girl on soi 6 practically begged me to take her with her, and that she would pay her own bar fine. I was hesitant but agreed. It ended up being some of the best sex I've had in my life. Since then, I haven't been paying a baht, other than for food and other random entertainment. I have been making the rounds in soi 6, and various discos for freebies, so that I have been able to offset the amounts I overpaid at the initial part of my vacation. Obviously, not every girl will be willing to go for free, but surprisingly many will. Also, I have to admit (perhaps a bit embarrassed) that I feel like a fucking celebrity or something when walking down the street and every girl is crying out to me by name to spend some time with them.

I have to admit that I had my reservations prior to arriving in Thailand. Before coming, I have been browsing these forums and the women posted in the pictures were not necessarily my type (perhaps because I am Asian and I have difference standards of beauty for Asian women?). However, after spending several days here, I have to say that there are a good number of stunning looking women. For me personally, I can't really imagine too many other places with women that would be more attractive to me, since the general fashion sense (clothes, hair, etc) for women in Thailand match what I like in a woman. Also, it is impossible not to leave Thailand without making many friends, both thai and other tourists.

Which brings me to the last part of my post. Upon arriving in Pattaya, I had intended to have a full 2 weeks of sex with a different woman each night, maybe several different women per day. I got off to a pretty good start, but I met a bar girl that I fell for and now I am having a hard time finding the desire to be with anyone else, despite all the hot girls here. I know that it is complete bullshit and irrational, but I had a hard time helping my emotions. I understand that once I leave Pattaya, we will probably never see each other again, as I don't really intend on coming back any time soon. I understand that she is a hooker, and that she has other customers, but it doesn't really faze me. However, for my remaining time here, I just want to be with her. I think she likes me too, and maybe for real? I have not paid a single baht to her for the time that she spent with me, and when we went to the disco, she turned down a customer who was offering her 3000 baht ST so that she could spend the time with me. She has paid for everything, movies, food, drinks, and refuses to allow me to pay. I felt pretty horrible because I know money comes easier to me than it does to her, and I tried sneaking 5000 baht in her purse when she went to the toilet. When she found out, she got pissed and slapped me. Maybe you who are more experienced here have comments or advice on this.

IMHO:

1. Is hanging out with the same chick the thing you want from your trip? If so you should go for it I would say. Personally I am all for repeats with a good experience, ideally together with one of her friends... but I think a key part of why mongering is fun is that you can butterfly around. Girlfriends/mistresses/wives are for back home...

2. If you don't bang other chicks on your trip you will regret it when you get back home, trust me.

3. She *will* call you two/three weeks after you get home with a story about her needing surgery/her sister needing bla bla bla/pick your emergency and only you can help, can you only send USD xyz as a loan, she will pay you back...

Or she's looking for a foreign husband... or a sponsor who will send her a monthly allowance (allegedly in order to stop working in a bar while waiting him)... or might just expect a very nice gift (gold jewel for instance).

Freebies in the Land of Smiles are very seldom "free" in the long term, even for young and handsome men. ;)

If someone doesn't want to be committed anyhow to a Thai girl, it's better to avoid freebies or he will probably have a hard time at a later stage when he wants to get rid of his fiancee (at least, that's what she will believe she is)!
